  1. Oh good, the "Which of our last 2 terrible coaches was worse?" conversation again. They both sucked and got more time at IU than was warranted. I'm glad they're gone, along with pretty much everyone that was in the program under either one of them.

  2. Largely how I see the two as well. CAM made the tourney but for Covid — pretty much everyone recognized we were in it. Would we have lost in the 1st round? Who knows. Woody rode TJD, he was completely incapable of adjusting his “system,” he did nothing to improve and instead brought in a top 10 NIL class and then bombed. I hated CAM’s system, but on coaching ability I tend to think Woodson was the worst coach I’ve ever watched in college. They were both terrible. How does one objectively compare terrible? I’m just glad they’re both gone and the U has finally hired a legit proven basketball mind. I don’t know if we’ll win now at the level we all want, but I’m confident we’ll be well coached, and the style of basketball will be fun to watch. It’s been a long time coming

    2025-2026 IU Roster

I go back and forth on this one. Archie was terrible. Woody did broadly speaking take Archie's guys and year 1 limped into the tourney. Woody's year 2 was far better than anything Archie did at IU. Was this Woody's coaching (lol)? Was it landing JHS (though that may have been a fluke recruitment)? Or was a lot of this just TJD being awesome and improving? Once TJD left, the wheels came off the wagon, and the wagon exploded. It was probably some mix of all these factors. Keeping TJD was probably the best thing Woody did, of course it helped he could pay him. But Archie never had the top-20 NIL Woody had in year 3 or the top-5 NIL Woody had in year 4. Would Archie miss the tournament with $6M of payroll for the roster? I kinda think he wouldn't, but I can't say for sure. Archie did leave a better program for the next coach. He wasn't the toxic nightmare Woody was. I don't know the answer on who is better or worse -- I get both arguments. At the end of the day, it's amazing how bad they both were. Thankfully they're gone and we’ve got a 100% brand new program from top to bottom.

  6. In the final 3SSB event of the year, the Earn Your Stripes Invitational, the Indiana Elite defeated Wildcat Select 88-76 for the championship. Anthony Thompson 35 pts. on 11-16 FG and 10 reb. for the Heat. Tay Kinney 36 pts. on 11-24 FG and 12-12 FT in a losing effort. https://247sports.com/college/indiana/article/national-top-10-prospect-anthony-thompson-has-another-monster-game-leads-indiana-elite-to-the-adidas-earn-your-stripes-championship-251904185/

  8. Looked to me like Woodson was still "coaching". Hope DeVries can shake whatever curse remains at IU basketball. Life's too short to watch bad basketball.

  9. It was more enjoyable going to Old Timers at Yankee Stadium and seeing 60 year old Bucky Dent rip line drives than watching IUBB players in their late 20s play again.

  10. But it was pretty on brand for what IU basketball has been for 8 years. Couldn’t close to shooters and couldn’t make open looks.

  14. The Indy Heat 16U team has advanced to Sunday's Peach Jam Championship game with a 76-67 win over JL3. They play for the championship tomorrow morning at 9:00 am against Florida Rebels. In the first of 2 games today, Isaiah Hill was limited to a single point going 0-6 FG. He did have 7r and 4b. In the second game he scored 9p on 3-5 FG; 2-4 on 3s; 1-4 FT; 4r; 2b. Couple of other selected highlights. '26 Cole Cloer - 16p on 5-13 FG; 4-6 on 3s; 2-2 FT; 6r in a losing effort. '27 Malachi Jordan - 18p on 8-11 FG; 2-3 on 3s; 4r; 1a; 1s; 1b

  15. Najai Hines and the New York Rens will play in the Peach Jam final Sunday. Hines with 13pts 10rebs 3 stls and 1blk in the qtr win over Team Melo and 11pts 7rebs 2stks and 1blk in a blowout semi win over Expressions. Will play the winner of Team Why Not- Bradley Beal Elite tomorrow morning on NBATV. Really hoping for BBE because they have a 6’11” kid going to Marquette named Sheek Pearson who plays HS ball about 10 mins from me and have seen a couple of times. He’s a modern long rim running big. Would love to see how Hines deals with that kind of player.

  16. He did. But his two most successful seasons were rehabilitating the Archie crew. Archie is a bum.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

I’m fairly confident that his success at UNLV is directly tied to the new head ball coach at Sacramento State.

Whatever you are currently listening to, I ask you to consider listening to “The Original Texas Groover” Doug Sahm instead. Dude from San Antonio who, upon the British Invasion, decided to snarky name his country, soul, Tejano, Vox organ-touched band “The Sir Douglas Quintet.” Music that constantly delivers; simple yet better every listen. https://open.spotify.com/album/18LEypAcTHiKxY7NmChxLx?si=Z9gPUZnQSIWQKBXA1S-U3A

  20. I know he probably wouldn't have played much but passing up Freddie McSwain again for non-Hoosier alumni is disappointing. He really wanted to play the last time.

  21. We have everything a team truly needs to be successful. We have experience. We have ball handlers. We have willing defenders. We have speed. We have shooters. We don't yet know about culture, leadership, and we know we're not big, I'll take my chances with experienced kids who know how to play and who are tough. I believe we have THAT, too. What is an "unheralded roster?" That makes no sense to me. We have had plenty of "heralded" players and that hasn't worked out very well. DeVries has been our coach for...what, 4 months? And "the fit" is already being discussed? The brand of IU basketball is top 3 in the country. What are you talking about? In terms of revenue it is behind only Kentucky and Louisville. Indiana is a sleeping giant and I have gone over time and again how the University intentionally made it dormant and is responsible for self-inflicted wounds. Culture is not built or re-built in 4 months and referring to our brand as "bad," with all due respect is grossly out of touch. We do not need and I am not interested in building a "heralded" roster because we spent the most money on players who are HERE for the money, don't care about Indiana, and have no idea how to play the game or play together. You HAVE been watching for the last several years, right?? You want MORE of that bullsh*t?? We finally have a coach doing things right.....pragmatically and with a plan, and you're envious of others?? This makes no sense to me. What higher hopes did you have? You want Mbako back? Reneau? Ballo? Guys who come for "their bag?" You're envious of Purdue's roster? That's a 20+ year culture and a coach who recruits SPECIFICLALLY to be "unheralded" for the most part. You think our football roster a year ago was "heralded?" No. But the pieces fit and everybody pulled in the same direction. There were no individuals. That's how you build a winner and that's what's happening. DeVries is recruiting to HIS "fit" Not to win an off season popularity contest. I LOVE what he's doing and it's about damned time. I promise..our brand is and will be just fine.
