Luck vs Manning first 60 games

ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1476312845.249550.jpg

Luck first 2 season plus 9 games of his 3rd season vs Brady first 3 seasons as a starter.

He's not been nearly as bad as a lot of people want to believe.

Yeah people are comparing him to prime Peyton. With Peyton they had patience because they never had a decent QB in Indy before him. That is why I keep saying choose what you want from the Bears and deal.

Exactly. People act like he should've won a super bowl and MVP already while breaking single season records. There's less than a handful of teams in the league that wouldn't rather have Luck. Not to mention Manning and Brady had better supporting cast around them earlier in their careers while Luck doesn't have much to work with. I'm not trying to say Luck is the best QB in the league but he's definitely one of the best.

I certainly am not.  Nor have I seen anybody that has.

He's good, but I don't put him as high up as others.  I see a lot of flaws.  How young are you when you learn to use a 3 step drop and find the hot route on blitzes?  Because Luck hasn't learned that yet.

I hope he steps it up.  I hope he improves like the elite quarterbacks you compared have.  Right now I'm not ready to compare him to any current greats let alone all time greats.

OH MY!!.... Nice little tribute to Hoosier Grad Richard (you know what happens if you use D**k on this site...Lol) Enberg tonight. I went to the NCAA men's basketball finals in St. Louis in 1978. That's when NBC replaced the legend Curt Cowdy with Mr. Oh My! Curt Cowdy had a difficult time pronouncing players names accurately as I think he was getting on in years and NBC canned him. So... In comes fresh face Mr. Enberg. He was really good too and now he's retired. I can't believe how the years fly by.... OH MY!!!!

I hate that the Colts could be in first place after tonight. And I hate that I feel that way. But I'm seriously fed up with this organization and don't want them feeling good about the sh*tshow they've put together.

Just watch, a month from now they'll be like 4-6 and Pagano will be raving about how the team is a bunch of warriors and they're only 1 game out of first place with the Texans at home later on. Our ceiling is another 8-9 win season with a hollow division title and early playoff exit. Barf.

We need better draft picks and better management. We aren't getting either with another playoff appearance (and another big banner in the rafters celebrating it).

So do people kind of wish we had just sucked our way to a 6-10 record last year by losing those last two games, rather than fighting to 8-8. I get fighting to win no matter what....... but it seemed like it brought false hope. Could have lead to the departure of Pagano and/or Grigson, both of which right now seem like they should be the right moves to make long term. Would have yielded a better draft pick, and probably would have led to some actual roster turnover which is much needed at this point.

I'm with Josh on this one. I'd love to get some good picks and really rebuild this team but I want us to win every game we can. Especially against the Texans(who like Purdue thinks they own the division/us)

I was actually surprised to see this stat. This stat IMO, puts the blame on the line and more so Pagano for not adapting to what the defenses are doing. 2.84 is the league average drop back. Luck is at 2.81.

It's an interesting read, thanks for sharing.  One thing you need to edit is that the league average is 2.48, not 2.84.  Not a big difference, but it makes me feel better on my side that he's holding it longer than average rather than shorter.

Clearly the line is one of the problems.  I do also think that Luck needs to be aware of his protection and let it go sooner when there's pressure, but that was a good article to read.

Go Colts

Damn fat fingers. Thanks. I think they pay the price for those big plays they are continually calling. They lead the league in those but the qb is getting hit. I hope you guys get a better offensive minded coach.

How long he holds the ball is a poor metric since we have been down so much and have had to have more downfield throws.

Judging a player on that metric just isn't precise enough because some offenses focus on quick throws and some more heavily rely on deep throws. Deep throws take time to develop.

I definitely agree with that and it's part of what I am saying. Luck is getting hit at a historic rate. Time to shorten up the progressions.
