Well then, we should turn this forum into a discussion of academics since sports are obviously so unimportant at IU. All this supposed focus on academics yet we rank at the bottom of the Big Ten in that area.

Probably why they need to focus on academics. If you don’t want to worry about those, there’s the NFL and NBA.

You choose to cheer for a college team. Don’t get upset when they prioritize education and research over sports.

Like Northwestern...oh wait. They're 1st in the B1G West this year and in the last decade have made 8 bowl games and won 10 games 3 times. So IU can't prioritize academics over football yet not even come close to the lofty standards of Northwestern?!?

And they suck at basketball. Guys, pick your damn poison. How many schools are out there that provide the best academics, football, and basketball? Relax. Donate your money to what you care about if you want it to be fixed.

Duke has had a few decent years recently. Obviously with basketball they have K but they have a really good coach for football too. They are also a Top 10-15 academic school in the nation. I guess you could say we have soccer. Maybe it is time then to move the football team to the soccer stadium and the soccer team to Memorial Stadium.

Great idea!  That would provide the institution a lot more money...

I hope we hire him when he gets fired. It'd be nice to win football games.

Honestly. We wont pay the money$$ but hire any fired SEC staff (Malzone would be great) would be light years ahead of where we are.

No one cares to show up to the games anyway. People go to tailgate. Some drunk students stumble their way into the game sometimes.

There are some crazy old students not sitting in the student section.. and, again, that wouldn't provide as much money. Other than that, it's a solid idea.

We tried the fired-SEC-coach route, if we're being fair.  See DiNardo, Gerry.  He had a winning record at LSU and won a bowl game there.

Maybe they should just play a few soccer games at Memorial Stadium anyways. Try and fill it up. Do some crazy promotion with students or something.

I do believe that IU should do more with that. Drum up a huge promotion with a top notch team and get 20,000 in Memorial Stadium for a soccer match.

I know it'd be an incredibly long day for some families but I'd like to see Hoosier Hysteria on the same day as a home football game. Anything to get more fans in Memorial Stadium would be good.

I'd like to see an "event" with other Indiana schools or possibly an Indiana vs. neighboring state contest.

Maybe give out a ticket to a basketball game to every person that comes to the match

I don't know what the record attendance is for a college soccer match but it would be awesome to own that.

Some ideas to boost attendance
- concert after match
- 50% of profit from the game goes to a charity
- beer!

22,500 or so. It was played at Busch stadium. By two local teams.

Perhaps play a game against Butler with both schools incentivizing with basketball tickets and a concert
