Jketch Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Just read that this guy only played two years of high school ball.. Sounds like he'd be a great project with lots of possible development. southsidehoosier and HoosierHoops1 2 Quote

Who's packing up their bags then? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Troy has his foot out the door or IU wouldn't have offered. McSwain's offer is committable. The new NBA draft rules have certainly helped the college players, but they have complicated things for college coaches. I'm okay with that because it favors the "kid." An idealist would say you don't offer McSwain on the chance Troy comes back and, if he leaves like he is planning to, you go a man down. Everyone else sees the writing on the wall, offers McSwain and has some serious talks with the two Apple is getting at in the above post. I want to be clear that Indiana isn't going to force someone to leave but they will be honest to the point where they paint a picture that encourages one to leave. I know people have a serious problem with that and may think I'm splitting hairs, but I have little issue with it. My biggest issue is that the finicky, querulous, IN HS coaches have an issue which impacts recruiting. I can't imagine catering to that group but I'll move on. These talks are like anti-recruiting, in a way. It's, "here's the reality of the situation. We want what's best for you. Here are other options, we've spoke with coaches..." I get some of you hate that idea, and I'm not saying you're wrong. I get your side of it, I think. I just see it different. I've had serious talks with some HS coaches about this. They tell me I can't identify with it because I'm not close enough to the "kids" and that, I guess, means I don't care. They tell me I value the university over the "kid." They tell me we're talking about lives, not wins and losses. I get it, again, I think. I'm telling them that IU is providing a path to a better situation, in their opinion. If the "kid" doesn't agree, he stays at IU. IU moves on and has a talk with the next "kid." All that makes me a heartless bastard, but, even from their (your) perspective, there are worse tragedies happening every 45 minutes within a two block radius of where I sit right now. And, from my perspective, it solves problems for all parties involved and helps/favors the "kid." Which is what I said forever ago in the first paragraph.
