NCAA Tournament Final 4 Thread

Some of the flip flopping that happens on this board makes me laugh.  First some posters wanted UNC because they like to play fast, then we get smacked around and it's a bad matchup.  Now preferring a friggin' Sweet 16 over a Final Four run because we didn't get blown out as bad even though we still got our arses whooped.

No, no, no.  Just no.  A Final Four appearance over Sweet 16 any day.  If we made the Final Four and got massacred it'd be "we still made the FF", and by some of the same posters too.  Just like no one cares that Marquette got stomped in Crean's FF.

Bottom line:  we got whooped too, and even earlier.

Also, it can also depend on what part of "worse" you're looking at. Emotionally? I am sure Oklahoma fans feel worse right now than we did last week. Once you put some time between you and the game then it's easy to remember you still reached the Final Four, but right now... hurts.

Realistically? Then a loss is a loss and you always want to advance.

I wasn't really referring to your post.  To be honest, after reading through again, I thoughts comments hado been made that actually hadn't.  Although there was definitely flip-flopping after UNC.

To your question, you take the Final Four every time.

To me a loss is a loss whether it's by 1 or 100. So if I'm going to lose I'd rather make it as far as possible before I do. At the end of the day they still made the final four and we didn't regardless of how many more points they lost by.

There is some comfort in the fact that we got beat once again by the eventual NCAA champion---which I think UNC will be ----so I will continue to root for them. That;s a much better loss than most other teams----such as little brother Purdue's choke job.

However---I found myself thinking last night while watching the Cheater's semifinal between the Cuse and UNC that it was a shame that they both could not lose. Some part of me will be happy if Villanova wins--but I predict UNC by 10 points.

This.  Over time there will probably only be a small handful of people that remember the point margin, it'll just be remembered as OU losing in the Final Four and IU losing in the S16.  If the situation was reversed many, if not all, the same posters would be saying we still made the FF instead of saying they'd rather get blown out less in the S16; and if they say otherwise I'm throwing the BS flag.  You always want to advance and FF > S16, the margin doesn't really matter at all aside from a possible Jeopardy question because so few people remember.

Didn't really expect to see people actually justifying losing earlier in the tournament. Do people seriously think the season would be more or a disappointment by getting smashed in the Final Four as opposed to getting smashed, though not as badly, in the Sweet Sixteen

Yeah, losing by less isn't really a consolation for getting smacked around two rounds earlier.

If this thread is still alive all I want to say I say go wildcats.Carolina shouldnt even be playing in this game.They represent everything wrong with collegiate sports along with the other Wildcats.Have never rooted harder in my life for a team

Make room for me on the Nova bandwagon! I guess if the NCAA sacked up and punished UNC I wouldn't mind them winning. However, it's more likely the NCAA will give them a title than take away a previous title.

Really don't like Johnson's stare down after an alley oop. If a player makes a good play its one thing but just jumping really doesn't do it for me in terms of staring someone down.
