MartintheMopMan Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Saw some calls for a thread to talk about the BTT games themselves. Probably could have just gone in the College Basketball Thread but here we are. On right now: Minnesota is a sad sad team and Illinois is not being very nice about it. Quote

seanmm1971 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 So many seats open. Early game between to teams with 0 chance of winning the tourney on a Wednesday afternoon. I'm Suprise there were that many there. Quote

MartintheMopMan Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Early game between to teams with 0 chance of winning the tourney on a Wednesday afternoon. I'm Suprise there were that many there. Let's not forget it started on Wednesday at 4:30. So, people like Treesh who would attend if they were nearby and could score some cheap seats aren't going because they're still at work and no one from Minnesota or Illinois is using 3 vacation days to travel to Indy to watch their team lose in an early round. Students won't even come because they have class. This stupid 5 day BTT is a hot circle of garbage. It took the worst day of the BTT, made it even worse, and then moved it earlier in the week. Anyone who shows up is really dedicated to their team, loves basketball and works odd hours, or stupid. Personally, I blame the fact that we let that crapbox Rutgers into the Big Ten. Yet another thing they ruined with their existence. Oh, how is the barely unbalanced schedule going where we play almost all teams twice? OH WAIT! THANKS AGAIN RUTGERS! I would politely ask Rutgers and Nebraska to leave the Big Ten. If the "but, Nebraska was already here" crowd is too powerful to keep Maryland, then I'll accept losing Maryland if it means getting rid of Rutgers. They don't belong here and no one wants them here. I hate Rutgers. And it's not even a fun rivalry hate where "oh you guys beat us in Basketball, I totally hate you!" and maybe we can satisfy it later. I hate their existence and presence in the Conference. Parakeet Jones, DawgBawls, LIHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
biteoftheapple Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I agree, Rutgers does not belong. But to get a balanced schedule we need to have 4 less teams. DawgBawls 1 Quote

But, the previous unbalanced schedule was better. It certainly wasn't perfect, but we had what, 7 home-and-homes and 4 either/ors instead of 6 and 6? I hate playing a team only once in the conference season, now we do it for almost half of the conference teams. DawgBawls 1 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Nebraskaball just had a 5 minute possession where they missed 37 shots but got 36 offensive rebounds. Good job Rutgers! Quote

I hate their existence and presence in the Conference. If it were up to me, we would throw them all out plus Penn St. and go back to 10. I'm so old school I'd probably get rid of the whole B1G tournament altogether and give the auto bid to the regular season champ. Of course, as I type this I am sitting here watching Rutgers and Nebraska. IUsafety, ALASKA HOOSIER, GloryDays and 1 other 4 Quote

I hate playing a team only once in the conference season, now we do it for almost half of the conference teams. I would be good with an "upper" and "lower" division within the B1G. You play doubles against the other 6 in your division and then once against the other 7. Bottom two teams in the "upper" division are relegated to the lower division if they don't have a .500 or better record. LIHoosier 1 Quote

Anyone who shows up is really dedicated to their team, loves basketball and works odd hours, or stupid. The conference tournaments should only be 8 teams max. A simple 3 day tournament with the best teams competing for an auto bid. Other sports within the B1G and NCAA don't have an all-member tourney; why does basketball feel the need to have a 'participation tournament'? It would make the conference regular season mean something (in most seasons), it would allow smaller conferences to have the spotlight in the early week instead of being relegated to streaming in favor of B1G, ACC, or $EC filler, and would even allow the players some time to focus on their studies (don't laugh).
