MartintheMopMan Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Somebody on an Illinois board called this their Super Bowl. I read that page, it made me feel sad for them. They recognize this is a massive game, but still aren't confident they can even stay in it. They later talk about Rojo being out and mention how they would have a chance if it was Yogi because they have no answer for him otherwise. Vegas has us at -8.5 btw. MadAboutIndiana Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Defend, rebound, and the rest will take care of itself. Hoping "it" finally clicked for Troy Williams and he's getting "it" now. Good/great Troy, the one who spills it diving on the floor, makes this team very difficult to beat. BGleas, HoosierAloha, Bobman1 and 3 others 6
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Not to worry, I'm still in Vegas where I'll be watching the game on yet another casino TV! Bobman1, mamasa, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5
Striper Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I went to one game at the faux Assembly Hall, most obnoxious basketball fans in the Big Ten. Second only to OSU football fans for obnoxiousness. I never liked Illinois before that, but after that experience I have relished every win over them that much more...
Parakeet Jones Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 My in-laws are coming in tonight. I always try to be a nice guy and help carry their luggage in. It takes a lot of crap to stay for a week. My father-in-law better have his butt here long before 9:00 if he plans on getting any help from me tonight. Mine are coming in about 2.25 hours, so no carrying at risk, but they will want to eat dinner at the same time the game is on over here. I politely asked my wife if we can go somewhere with a TV and she managed not to sustain any permanent eye damage while rolling them and sighing. So, I think I'm good. I also got an annoyed "Maybe you should just stay home" which would really be the ideal solution for me. Chips&Dipo, djsalway, Naturalhoosier and 10 others 13

Chips&Dipo Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 That's a trap, don't fall for it. As a younger man, this is a trap I continually fall for. Is there an age when you stop falling for it? Naturalhoosier and MartintheMopMan 2
BGleas Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I think it took kids for me to stop falling for it. Once the kids come you're thinking "Wait, she's offering to take the kids out so I can stay home and watch the game? Hmmmm, I'm going to pay for this royally". Stuhoo Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 The DVR is your friend. Go to a place without a television, and watch it on the DVR with no knowledge of the outcome, and commercial free. BGleas, MartintheMopMan and Naturalhoosier 3
Brass Cannon Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I grew up with 3 older sisters I have shocked my wife by never falling for that trap. 26 years of observation along with some prior slip ups allowed to avoid that trap. I think it annoys her that read her that easily tbh BGleas and southsidehoosier 2
MartintheMopMan Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 That's a trap, don't fall for it. No doubt it's a trap, but one of the reasons I married my wife is because being in trouble is pretty tolerable. I pay for it by taking over some chores around the house (which, I likely would have had to do anyway) and it all works out. If I can get the chores done before she comes home, then I can usually defuse the whole situation ahead of time. When "like the time you stayed home to watch basketball when my parents were here" comes up when my family is in town, I also have the trump card since my family doesn't care at all so she can do whatever she wants. Plus, she needs allies against her mother, so she can't turn on me until they leave. The DVR is your friend. Go to a place without a television, and watch it on the DVR with no knowledge of the outcome, and commercial free. I'm incapable of doing this. If I don't watch a game on time I want to know the outcome so I know if it's going to ruin my night. Then I get disappointed in myself for blowing the ending. Though, sometimes it makes the game more fun like the Niner's win against the Bears where all I knew was we won and for the entire game I kept thinking "I don't see any way for us to win this, there is no way we actually won".

coonhounds Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I must be doing something right cause my wife either asks me when iu plays next or checks the schedule herself before making plans for me. In preseason after maui much to her surprise I said we could go Christmas shopping but I still drank beer and listened to most of the game in the car lol Naturalhoosier, Bobman1, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5
