Hilarious. Entire threads have discussed that we shouldn't waste resources on chasing the top talent like Romeo. We send zero coaches to his game, complaints about us not putting in effort [emoji23]

Not just because of Romeo though. Those 3 other teams were loaded. Big event, with big programs in Indiana and we don't attend?

Seems to me that we should have had some presence. If not because of a particular recruit, then at least as an investment in public perception.

And to further build relationships with LaLu and Oak Hill.

And to "pants" Billy Preston for picking Kansas.

Or just to say HEY, this is our home turf. Painter was there. He doesnt have a chance with any of these guys. We will fly to New York and watch kids that we dont have a snowballs chance with.

I don't think we should chase kids that are a waste of time just for perception purposes but we should be a contender for most Indiana kids, so since we are not right now then we need to do everything to change that. That primarily come down to relationships. We need to form them or bring in someone that already has them

We have been contenders for many Indiana kids. Let's not sugarcoat it. Nobody wants us in on kids we can't land. I think Romeo fits that mold to a T. If we can't land him we shouldn't be wasting our resources. There is nobody on those teams last night we are going to land. I am all for perception that has been discussed and why we need to be there. On the flip side there is a perception we never had a chance with Wilkes, Harris, and others since they didn't come here which isn't true and we shouldn't have wasted our time. By "wasting our time", that is how one begins to develop relationships that need to get better. I think he absolutely has to recruit better, cause when/if we start struggling with the types of kids we are getting everyone will point to recruiting. As they should. This is definitely a damned if you do and damned if you don't.

i think we are mostly saying the same thing but it is important to note, we have not been serious contenders on many of the top 4 and 5 star Indiana kids as of late. Any time we can make a kids final 3 like Wilkes, I don't think that is a waste of time even if we were perceived as an under dog. It's where we don't recruit a kid because he has no interest in IU from the start or where we chase for a year or two only not even to make initial cuts is the disappointing stuff. To have top Indiana kids have little to no interest is not ok. To get over the hump we need to do more to mend relationships in our state and get the majority of kids to be interested. It will never be 100% but the majority should want to hear from Indiana and be excited to have interest or an offer from us and that isn't the case enough. To have kids like Langford potentially having no interest is nuts. If it were just him that would be one thing but there have been too many that have written us off

The word "frustrated" doesn't come close to describing what I feel about what he's done with the states bball system. We are THE state school with the history that says most of the top kids should dream of being a Hoosier and playing in assembly hall. WTF!

Disagree.

It's only frustrating if the ultimate goal is to win recruiting battles.

For me, by far the primary goals are to win games, B1G titles, national championships, and to do so with young men who are truly student athletes and who Hoosier Nation can be proud of.

We're one step away from all of those primary goals.
