Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 If we give Vandy credit when Stallings was the coach then stop acting like IU has only been involved for 8 months. We were on him back then as well. Both have new to semi new staffs. Has Drew been involved with Romeo for awhile yes but until U of L got busted he didn't really make him a priority. Offering someone and spending a lot of time on a kid are two different things. That argument annoys me. Yes it matters to have relationships for awhile but LSU, NC State and us have all got talent in the timeframe. Some from the kids being recruited at the coaches previous stops. Archie has done a great job so far and I'm fine with our class as is. The same class that was wrapped up in 6 months or less of Archie being the head coach at IU. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app It's just hard to believe because it's literally never happened before at a school like Vandy (meaning 3 top 10 guys). No coach ever has pulled of something like this at a school like Vandy, let alone in his really first recruiting cycle, and being a coach with no experience recruiting at this level. The closest comparable might be Kansas St. landing Beasley and Bill Walker, but again I think we're all pretty sure that was shady and at least the coach then was Huggins who has been a high major coach for a long time. That argument annoys you probably as much as the argument that the family wanted vandy to get involved late in Romeo’s recruitment annoys me. All I pointed out was vandy has been around his recruitment for a while and this just didn’t happen overnight. Drew reaffirmed the offer right after he got the job just like CAM reaffirmed RP, Louis King, and Romeo’s right soon after he took over the job Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

And I agree that it’s hard to believe. But it also hasn’t happened yet. They got Garland who is a local kid and who has known Drew for a long time. They also got Shittu who by all accounts they did a great job recruiting. It may be suspicious but it isn’t “Ole Miss football” suspicious to me. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I have no idea, but if what has been alluded to is true, that Shittu was almost locked up for Arizona before the FBI issue changed things, then I'd say it's close to being "Ole Miss Football" suspicious. We also know either UNC tried to get involved and couldn't, or something made Shittu not interested in UNC. Seems rare for a kid to shun even visiting UNC (coming immediately off a Natty) because he's so set on Vanderbilt. I did a little digging and other classes similar to this include California's 2015 class (2 top 10 guys) and Georgia Tech's 2006 class (2 top 10 guys). I think we all wonder about Cuonzo Martin given how things played out with the Porter's, and for Georgia Tech I don't know much about it, but they were coming off a National Title Game appearance two years prior. Popular Post Brass Cannon Posted November 27, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 27, 2017 So a 5 star that spurned 1 dirty program UNC, after being favored to go to another dirty program Arizona eventually going to a non basketball school without taking any other visits isn't suspicious? BGleas Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Also, just to be clear, I don't mean to insinuate the Langford family is shady or looking to break rules. There's ways for recruiting to go sideways and shady things to go on without the family being directly involved or even having knowledge of it. Napleshoosier 1 Quote

OkThat was my point totally but I've been told to back off. Drew is about to become one of the elite recruiters in all of college bball. Plus I think he's the leader for another top 10 2019 guy. He could end up at duke when coach k hangs it up.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote
