(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

Looked at his recent interview and I would say he is going to kansas imo. Sadly I don't think we are in it anymore and probably a distant third place. Had he of been a 2019 player things may have been different.

I don't think any team has it in the bag.  I think Romeo is getting exactly the kind of information he wanted when he decided to put off his commitment.

For Vandy, he has learned that Garland and Shittu will be there; Garland got suspended for some behavioral stuff; Shittu will be coming off a torn ACL; and that the team sucks and Drew isn't working any miracles.

For Indiana, he's watching what our 4 commits are doing this year; seeing that we've stayed clean through the FBI stuff; learned that we have a gaping hole in the SG position; and that Archie's first year has ups and downs.

For Kansas, he's seeing continued murky waters with the Preston situation; some lower than expected results; and watching how the other players/commits are doing this year to gauge what kind of minutes he'll get next year.

All of this is valuable, and I think it is being utilized by the Langfords in the decision making process.  He's seeing love from Indiana fans every day, all over the place.  He knows that it could be a good year here.  I don't get the impression that he really wants to go to Indiana.  He's not popping up to campus on a regular basis like he used to with Louisville.  But he was here for HH, and he watched the Duke game.  He knows that we've got something good here.  As a fan, I'm calling it 33% to Kansas, 33% to Vandy, and 34% to Indiana.  In other words, more likely than not he doesn't come here, but we're still in the best spot.

If I were handicapping it I would take Kansas over the field.

But, there is little doubt in my mind that IU and Vandy have a chance, because as the Langfords have said, if he'd already definitively decided, he'd make the call official.

Or he hasn't in order to avoid the wrath of IU fans at his remaining high school games.  Is the glass half full or half empty?  I've already resigned myself to the fact we won't land him and rationalized myself into believing we'd be better off getting a quality player who will be here more than 1 year.

I honestly think this could be a big factor. He is playing in sellout gyms each night. I don't believe those gyms would be sell outs if he was already committed to Vandy/Kansas. The hype machine has a lot of influence for a Spring commit.

Nothing like a good dose of rationalization to make me feel better in the face of massive disappointment!

He will be the highest rated kid to announce in the spring (Zion is announcing Jan 20th). The spot light will definitely be on him. I still feel good about IU’s chances. Hype and exposure could be huge if he chose to stay home. National media would catch on to him being the Trae Young of 2018. Just imagine the Journey episode on BTN if he comes to IU.

Article just says that he is having a MRI and may have possibly hyperextended it. Could miss the remainder of the season.

I think we need to continue seeing the Justin Smith we saw against Minnesota. That could have a huge impact of we have him and Morgan capable of going for 15 plus a night on a consistent basis plus a solid class coming in all of a sudden IU looks a lot better going into next than it did a couple weeks ago.

I just hope Vandy keeps losing and we keep winning as much as we can.
Kansas is Kansas.
Vandy needed to lock him up in the fall when the magician drew got the other recruits. Now the miracle worker drew is being exposed as no miracle worker coach.

Guess we will see if Vandy will match KU's offer sheet.
