(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

Every coach in IU history has got 5* talent to IU. I am not worried about that. I am more worried what he does with them. At some point you have to win games. There are a lot of teams with a lot of 5* talent sitting at home. Anyone can do that.

He’s capable of coaching them up, but maybe similarly to Sean. Gotta get the right guys, regardless of 5 Stars. Not all 5 stars are created equal. I’m a big time advocate of acquiring talent. I’m also a big time advocate of recruiting winners. I want guys who HATE to lose no matter what they are ranked.

It’s complicated

That's the thing; in any given class there's a finite # of 5-stars that want to play D, truly work on D at a high level, and I think for Archie's system to work top notch, everyone has to buy in on Defense. That leaves a lot of "stars" out, each year.

Your last sentence is also where guys like VO separate themselves from the other 3 stars and make a continual rise. VO didn't take many plays off.

Seems like previous indications where that Archie had a higher perceived ceiling than Sean.

I know we say that as Indiana fans but Sean has had tremendous W/L record over time. Bad in NCAA tourney but wins big almost every year. Not really sure why we can say Archie is better. I’ve always chalked that up to fan loyalty.

I think it’s just projection. People see what he did at Dayton, then say, well if he gets the players Sean gets............

First off, he may never get the recruits Sean gets and secondly, who knows. I guess we will find out over the next few years.

It looks like people are starting to look at every little thing printed and running with it again. There for awhile it had tapered off. Relax people

Well, in fairness to those who are critiquing every word Romeo says in interviews, we are heading down the home stretch so what he says in these final interviews carries a lot more weight.  And any further visits he may take could also be quite revealing.

Do you guys think Romeo is into county music? Maybe he wants to be a famous C&W singer? Enquiring minds want to know! emoji23.png

Well if he does, we all know Nashville is only 19 miles away from Bloomington on SR 46.    lol

That little **** Dars just won’t stop, will he? Now it is being reported that Romeo will “likely” take another trip to Vanderbilt.

Romeo said one last visit to IU and that was it. Now Bryce drew wont leave the kid alone so hopefully romeo gets tired of the crap and his visit there is to tell drew he isn't going there.

Well that sucks.. We were supposed to have the last visit. I still think I it’s a two horse race with us and Vandy. I was leaning toward us lately, but now I’m concerned Vandy may be his leader like most thought early on.

Story doesn’t say Vandy gets last visit, just says he may do another one and they’ve for sure said they are going to Bloomington again and as the last visit. Perhaps the visit to Vandy is to tell Drew in person and thank him, but he’s going to IU. In my opinion, you don’t tell Drew you’re coming to Vandy first and then arrange a meeting to tell Archie in person later. It would get out before the meeting with Archie. Either way, I’m ready for all of this to be over.....

His comment was in reply to my statement that I thought Mack was an ok coach but not outstanding. I never stated I thought they could do better but i was a little surprised they gave him 4 mil for seven years. I'm not sure I believe he'll do any better than Padgett would've.

You never responded to the post that I quoted you in. I challenge you to find better production over the last 9 years at a similar school to Xavier.

There has been a "coming soon" sign (for years now, lol) for the "new" Little Nashville Opry (after the original burned down).  We've got Romeo covered!

There will be some that get mad, but Romeo and his family havent led anyone on and kept everything close to the vest. I'm not sure you can really ask anything more of a kid and his family.

Absolutely. Especially in this day and age. Dude is on social media and semi active too. You don’t really see that anymore. I don’t think you could ask for much more. Like he said in his burger boy interview when he commits there will be no surprises or guesswork. He also relayed that some of his friends have openly discussed wishing they would have waited. Surprised more haven’t with all of the transfers and top players going to the NBA, tbh.

You could add the number of coaching changes that annually take place and the impact that has.
