Brogdon for Virginia is projected to be an NBA player?  I haven't watched a ton of their games but I've heard some ESPN talking heads talking him up.  If Jok continues to improve I could see him playing in the league too.

Yeah he is listed on this list @ #95 I guess the question would be how high of a pick do you have to be to be projected in the NBA? Since they only have 2 rounds maybe the top 64?

You could probably add Virginia to the list. Uthoff is also on the list, but as a SF. I imagine the tweet was to point out that Guard play weighs big in the tournament.

I've been doing some KenPom research. It looks like a very safe assumption would be that our Final Four participants will be in the top 50 adj O & adj D on KenPoms rankings.
Here is a list from 2002-2015. There are very few exceptions to this list. 6 to be exact. 2015 - Wisconsin (#54 D), 2011 - VCU (#84 D), 2006 - George Mason (#58 O), 2006 - LSU (#65 O), 2003 - Texas (#80 D), 2003 - Marquette (#119 D) Of these 6 teams 4 were balanced by the Overall #1 or #2 respective offense/defense is the opposing category. 2015 - Wisconsin (#1 O), 2006 - LSU (#2 D), 2003 - Texas (#1 O), 2003 - Marquette (#2 O).

If you take the amount of teams that fall into this top 50/50 category each year it averages out to be 19.4. We are right on pace this year. If the tournament started today than 1 of the following 19 teams would be your National Champ and 4 of the 19 would more than likely be in the Final Four; Villanova, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Texas A&M, Xavier, Kansas, Texas, Michigan St, Iowa, Miami, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arizona, North Carolina, California, Gonzaga, USC, Syracuse.

IU has only fallen into the category 3x in the 15 year period.

2002 - National Runner-Up

2007 - That one coaches 1st season (2nd Rd exit)

2013 - Sweet 16 loss

Log story short.....Good teams tend to advance fairly far in the tournament.

Edit: Better pic of my Excel file

Most recent Bracketology from ESPN has Purdue keeping a #5 seed despite the lose and IU moving up to a #5 seed.  More interesting is the potential second round matchup for the Hoosiers against pUKe.  I would love to avenge that 2012 loss, and certainly think the Wildcats are a weak #4 seed that could be beaten.

While I would like to see an IU/puke second round matchup could you image the draw as a 4/5 seed in that East bracket?  I like our chances against Iowa St. and then possibly a Sweet 16 matchup with Villanova.  If we get a draw like that I could see an Elite 8 run.

The draw were in right now according to Lunardi I wouldn't mind either. Keep the streak against Indiana foes against Valpo. Kill the Kitties from Kentucky. A very good game looming against UVA. I could see us taking this game because as we have seen before. Our offense takes down a great defense(Purdue). And beat a 2 seed Xavier squad in the Elite 8. Final Four here we come!

You're way more optimistic than I!  There are a few teams I would like to stay away from and UVA is one of them.  WVU and MSU would be a few other high seeds I would want to avoid.

When did the rule that teams from the same conference cannot meet until the Elite 8 get changed? If it didn't, we can't play Purdue early on.

Noted we're #5 with both CBS and ESPN. SI has us as a 6 playing in the first round (are you ready?) #11 seed Wichita State.

They are a great defensive team that isn't going to give us anything and their offense is good enough to take advantage of our defensive deficiencies.

They are a very good defensive team (AdjD #1), but so was Purdue (AdjD #7). I don't think their offense (AdjO #69) is anything to write home about, and is ranked right around our defense (AdjD #77). If you look at our tempo (AdjT #145) versus theirs (AdjT #279), I think we'd tire out their defense. That double on the post against Purdue should be how we play any strong defensive team. Give them hell on both ends of the floor. Granted, we really need a healthy RoJo for that.

Yeah but how often do we force teams to play our pace on a neutral court?  And theres a reason they are rated higher than us in Kenpom, because the gap between our offenses is smaller than the gap between our defenses.

I think a few years ago when conferences started to balloon in size, meaning that it was likely 9+ teams could make the tourney.

New criteria is Elite 8 if conference foes have played 3+ times before the NCAA's, Sweet 16 if they've played twice, 2nd round if they've played once.

It also helps keep as many schools as close to home as possible.

with unbalanced schedules in conferences if u only played a team once during the regular season you can actually meet in the 2nd round. That rule was changed a couple years ago

Enough of that middle of the pack Lunardi, the king of the bracketeers (Bottoms) has us at a 6 seed playing the soon to be anointed darlings of America, Monmouth.

In the Midwest bracket, one that I for sure would love, because I believe I could go see them in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 in Chicago! No one can stop us before the Sweet 16!

If they're not gonna be a top 4 seed, I'd love to see them get placed in Brooklyn so I can watch (optimistically) the 1st 2 rounds.
