2017 IUBB recruiting

Recommended Posts

You're good with one 5 on the entire roster? McSwain, Wilkes and Smith are 3/4's and while JMo can play some 5, he's undersized at that spot. That works when you're playing 300rpi schools in the non-conference and conference schools like Rutgers, but not against the big boys like MSU, Louisville, Duke, UNC, UK, etc.

No, I'm not good. I've been preaching for awhile now about landing another true big in '17. JMo played some 5 last season but we can't count on him to bang in the post for more than a few minutes. I've said several times we won't be as competitive if we're counting on JMo or Moore at the 5. We must get another big to compete in the B1G and the NCAAT.

My bad, I misinterpreted your post.

A week ago our fanbase was concerned we wouldn't get anyone lol even though most fans knew it takes patience and eventually it'll happen, which it did. Now its were screwed cause we don't have a backup big!! We need to stop acting like we need someone RIGHT NOW. Last week we had one guy, now we added two more. Smith can play the 4 in a pinch as well. Who says OG doesn't end up coming back? I honestly believe the talent in the next draft and the one following is a drastic talent difference, so OG could stay!! I see so many automatically putting JBJ off next years team as well, yet we have no clue about that either!! To put what I'm saying in perspective, this season hasn't even started yet, so let's push the chill button and try to be patient. DD, J Mo, Smith, McSwain, Moore & maybe OG isn't a bad position without OG even. Not ideal, but we have 6 months to figure it out and there are grad guys and class of 18 reclassing, which there is always a few good ones. We have time be patient people!! Our recruiting efforts are paying off finally and looks like they could get even better very soon, so let's try to enjoy this year and maybe have these convos of set lineups for next year already. A lot can change!!

It's a recruiting board for fanatics, of course we're going to speculate who were getting and what the needs are of the following years team. You tell people to relax yet go into possible roster outlooks...? It's fun for fans to speculate who might go and what scenarios that would cause. It's fun and we're fans, fans gonna fan.

What Aloha said! I'm not bent out of shape nor do I need to chill, just having a recruiting discussion on a recruiting thread in a recruiting forum. Until the games start there isn't that much to discuss other than recruiting. Seemed like a simple discussion about whether we need to add a big for next year.

I'm not sure we are going to go after a big that isn't a difference maker.  Moore can play the 5 in Creans system, and if Crean truly believes that Moore is the most undervalued he has recruited that means quite a bit considering OG wasn't ranked in the top and Crean thinks Moore is even more undervalued.

I would imagine priorities are

Difference Maker Big

Waters

Grad Transfer Big/Project Big

Interesting read

This kinda reminds me of something I wanted to check out.  What is Caliparis record against Big Ten Teams.  Off the top of my head in the last 5 years hes lost to us twice, beat us once.  He lost to OSU, Lost to Wisconsin and IIRC lost to Michigan.

Well, at least Calipari can rest assured that those student athletes of his have received an excellent college education, and that so many of them have their degrees as a foundation for their future, so that unscrupulous people can't take advantage of their NBA or D-League earnings.

UK beat Michigan in the Elite 8 a few years ago in Indy, right before they beat Wisconsin in the Final 4.  I think they also beat Penn State recently too.  I don't remember them losing to UM though.

Also didn't they lose to MSU a few years ago to open the season?  I'm pretty sure they did.

SEC projects to be terrible this year. Florida is down. Everyone else is meh. Texas AM has young talent. Georgia is projected near top with Yante Maten maybe their best player. LSU is down. Just plain bad.

Which keeps a team highly ranked pre-season near the top .I hate those f#(ks.

Well, it is the SEasy.  That conference is never a world beater, and half those fan bases spend basketball season thinking about the upcoming football season.
