Alford Bailey Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Lets wait and see what TB does against stiff competition in February. If he plays well I could see him moving up nicely.....or go the other direction. IUBB666 and Kepner 2 Quote
HoosierRob Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I myself don't think Thomas should leave but I would have to think that if he does and is drafted early it would have to help in recruiting. I don't remember anyone thinking he was a one and done to begin with. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 @janitorinthegym seems to think there is a chance he is one and done if projections stay high. Quote
KingPG21 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Kind of OT Say you're a NBA GM, and you can choose Vonleh (when he was coming out of college, and disregarding his first year and a half so far) or you can have Bryant. Who do you take? Maybe because I am a Pacers fan and our best rebounding big man right now is Jordan Hill, which makes me sad beyond belief, but I'd take Vonleh ever single time. The offensive versatility he has shown, or flashes there. The being an absolute monster on the boards, the potential defensively. I just bring this up because the comparison between the two is so easy. And I guess the potential to be something special in the NBA that I saw/see with Vonleh, I really don't see the same with Bryant. I think he'll be good, but probably not a ton more than a serviceable starter, to good starter in his prime. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Vonleh for me and I like TB. His competitiveness is biggest plus side. Vonleh seemed much more fluid and athletic though. Tough call. What one has in tangibles the other has in intangibles and vice versa. KingPG21 1 Quote
biteoftheapple Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 In my view. I believe Bryant has some coordination problems he would need to focus on in the off season. It just seems to me he is just growing in his athletic ability. Please dont misunderstand me, I like him just fine. His desire and intensity is huge. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Just from random instances thus far this season, I feel TB needs more emotional maturity. I'm not certain he's yet emotionally equipped for the bright lights and big stage. The NBA can further develop his basketball skills, but won't be a whole lot of help on the emotional maturity side of the coin which I think another year of college would enhance. Quote

If he could get with a strong coach, or assistant coach it would help him. Look at Lance Stephenson with Brian Shaw, or to an extent Paul George. Lance was essentially a child, really he still is to an extent. But when he was with the Pacers with Shaw we didn't really see much of this, like he did a choke sign towards LBJ in the playoffs, but otherwise nothing. He goes to Charlotte and he pouted more than actually play basketball, and now with the Clippers he can't get off the bench Quote
Kepner Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Watching Bryant play in the heart of B10 play and I just don't see him leaving. He has struggled against most talented big men. He struggled against Happ when we played Wisconsin and he is really struggling against Haas and Hammons. He struggles on both ends of the court against the quality bigs he's matched up against. Not trying to bash Bryant at all cause I love what he brings to the team when he is on, but i still think he isnt ready for the NBA yet ThompsonHoosier, HoosierAloha and biteoftheapple 3 Quote
Trish Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Off potential and a draft class that is 4 people deep, I don't see why he wouldn't get picked. ccgeneral and 8bucks 2 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Off potential and a draft class that is 4 people deep, I don't see why he wouldn't get picked. Yeah but there are tons of people with potential, he could risk falling to the second round. Quote
Scooter D Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 No. He struggles against good big men...he will get murdered in the NBA after one year at IU. Kepner 1 Quote
Hovadipo Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Yeah but there are tons of people with potential, he could risk falling to the second round. No he won't. He'll know about where he's going after the pre-draft is complete. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 It may not make a difference in the draft but TB is constantly out of position on D. Kepner 1 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 No he won't. He'll know about where he's going after the pre-draft is complete. Thats no guarantee thats where you will go though. Drafts are weird, mostly because of the Knicks odds picks but they are weird. Quote
ElectricBoogaloo Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I don't get the Bryant to the NBA talk. I suppose it's all about potential, but Max has been the better post player on IU this year. Not saying Max will be in the league obviously... Saying that the guy getting outplayed by Max won't be either. Kepner and Alford Bailey 2 Quote

Not unknowingly slip to the 2nd round weird. In the NFL, sure but that probably won't happen with the NBA since he can go thru the pre-draft and choose to come back. Quote

Yeah thats what I am assuming though he would get told at the predraft that he is a late first round possible second rounder. And him being a smart kid he would choose to come back. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 TB needs one more year....PLEASE! Alford Bailey and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
