coonhounds Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I plan on going just to ask why I was at the game but he wasn't. He can tell me to F off. That's fine, but I plan on asking him what I tell my kids why a coach who won 3 titles is not there celebrating the greatest team in college basketball history?when it gets close I am asking what time you are going to be there. May be the only reason I go is to see his answer to that. He may just get pissed and leave and everyone waiting to give him there 89 dollars may kick your butt lol 8bucks 1 Quote

Popular Post mdn82 Posted January 12, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 12, 2016 I was truly at that game and have every intention of going. That guy was an idol to me growing up and I believed in what he said and his idea of doing things the right way. I know I don't mean crap to that man. But from a lifelong fan that believed in his crap I just want to say my peace in a non hostile way. I appreciate what he did for our university but the man he has shown himself to be is disappointing. coonhounds, Uwe Robb, Naturalhoosier and 7 others 10 Quote

schoosier Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'm in the minority here but I don't have a problem with him not wanting to come back and even less of a problem with him doing signings. He doesnt owe us or his players, although he jumps at every chance to do so(Landon Turner). You never read about his good deeds like the current coach pulling kids out of the snow or bible verses at Mcdonalds. He did more for Indiana than all of us put together and was fired by a dead man who only wanted his next promotion and subsequently wrecked our program more than Jerry Meyers or Sampson. He was set up to fail pure and simple and Myles Brand can rot in hell. Now, I am not saying Knight is perfect. His behavior sucked, how he treated his players sucked, and he is probably one of the biggest aholes to ever coach. BUT, he was our ahole that his teams played hard, smart, graduated, and won multiple NCAA championships. He is a dinosaur who we will never see again in coaching. Maybe thats a good thing but those banners belong to him as much as anyone. Hope you make a bunch of cash Mr Knight. ALASKA HOOSIER and Defenserocks28 2 Quote

Us - The people who show up to the man's multiple speaking engagements throughout the years or gave him unwavering support when he was our A-hole. Players - The kids who were border line abused at times willing to run through a wall due to the man's reputation. Everything asked of, they did or were shown the door. Those same kids that if they don't hold his specific views on certain areas (like if they support Indiana where they got that degree from) they are discommunicated. We get it. The guy was wronged. But two wrongs don't make this right. You and I couldn't have further opposite views on our program and it is due to the damage that man has done long past when he should have showed up. He has fractured this university by his hypocrasy. I also love how you demonize a dead man who has been gone from our university for 15 years. So that is what keeps Knight from putting this thing to rest? Really? After all this state gave that man for the last 40 years, you bet your ass he owes us. Top 3 greatest coach that ever lived in any sport IMO, but the biggest hypocrite that ever lived. He has made a living the last 10 years living off the past but doesn't want to show up at The Hall due to past? Ok Defenserocks28, IUsafety, mamasa and 5 others 8 Quote

You dont even have to leave the state of Indiana and high school coaches as examples. Look at Woody Hayes who was Knight's hero. No, he doesnt owe us anything. No one is requiring you to go see him. Winning big with great kids is his true legacy and Myles Brand wouldnt have one without Knight. Knight secured Indiana's basketball blue blood history; Crean has done 10X more damage to the program with the players being arrested and such. Its not even close. Schreckbagger and Kepner 2 Quote
