Josh Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I agree he deserves a lot of credit, and I also agree is some way his transition was easier due to style of play. It's hard not to be a little jealous, but at the same time, we are looking for a long-term fix. Not saying that Holtmann won't have success long-term, more just saying I don't think he could have done any better at IU than CAM is doing. If you look at the talent we lost and the trajectory of this team last year compared to this year, I really don't see how CAM could be doing much better. I really don't think you can compare them until they are in about year 5.I think it's fair to judge them every single year rather than waiting for some random year. Right now Holtmann gets the highest grade of any new coach imo. No need to minimize the job he's done. WayneFleekHoosier and Alford Bailey 2 Quote

I hope he is around for a while and does good, because he is a good guy. Hopefully he can recruit good there consistently. OSU needed a culture change, as much as we did. I think we will both be happy. No reason more than one team can’t be. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Alford Bailey Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Holtmann has done a fantastic job. Knew he would and hated seeing him go to OSU. It will be an interesting comparison (Miller and Holtmann) year five. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

It will be an interesting comparison (Miller and Holtmann) year five.Right. I was one of the few that liked him. Most were stuck on Donovan or others. I had him in that tier with Archie (I preferred Archie due to Holtmann record Gardner Webb). I have a buddy that works in the Athletic Department at Butler and just talked up Holtmann when he didn’t have to. I think both programs will be on the up swing. IMO and I said it then Illinois is the only school that will be looking for a new coach in a few years. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Chose the beaches over decent coaching. His recruitment was kind of wild. Michigan st target for 2019 once he reclassified to 2018 they backed off. Committed to DePaul (old high school coach is now an assistant), decommited. Purdue jumped in and looked strong but UCLA jumped in late. He set announcement date for feb 1 and everyone thought DePaul would be the choice. Feb 1 came and went and no commitment was announced. People began saying it was a struggle within his camp on what was best for him. Looks like UCLA beat out DePaul in the end but I wouldn’t hold breath until he signed it I was UCLA Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app mamasa and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

TheWatShot Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Let's see if his commitment sticks for another two months. Purdue has certainly benefited from players changing their minds at the last minute. Quote

Underwood gets them to play hard, and they will have a couple of quite good guards. Won't break the top ten in conference, but maybe will stay afloat. Quote
