Regarding an extension, how long are most thinking? Could we include more years but a buyout protection for us if he were to continue to build and have someone bigger come a calling?

I would assume 4 years minimum. That is long enough to tell recruits that you have confidence in the staff. I can't see Glass gong nuts like he did on CTC's contract. The buyout may depend on how much IU ponies up for base salary and incentives. Paying up for the assistants is important also. Frey and McCullough have both passed on better positions (my understanding is multiple times each) and that needs to be rewarded. Thinking we've had bigger schools looking at other assistants also. We're going to lose a assistant here or there any way we go, but making sure the money is there to get quality replacements is important.

Hate to say anything positive about PU fans but I wasted a few minutes reading their board (wanted to experience the beauty of their meltdown) and saw that they were really mad about that classless play. All of them were saying he should have been kicked out.

You know who I haven't seen mentioned and I thought played well? Rashard Fant. He's really the one corner we can leave on and island and still have hope he can cover his man one on one. He leads the nation in pass break ups, he's really came into his own.

Purdue is the cheapest, dirtiest, and most classless bunch of players, coaches, and fans I can name.   If anyone associated with the football program is reading this, beat those MF's by 100 next season....and every year after.  

 

Really proud of the way this team fought and very obviously improved.   Outside of hiring Les Miles, I hope the Wilson hot seat discussion cools down a bit.  We need a new defensive coordinator...that's obvious;  But I think it's clear the program is better and headed in a good direction.  He's earned a new contract.

He definitely should have. There were a few other cheap shots, but those were minimal compared to #3's face mask grab and stomp. Completely classless and hope he gets reprimanded!

On the bright side, Purdue sucks and we are going bowling!

I think Wilson will get an extension, and Knorr has one more year to prove himself.  The defense HAS to get better.  I'm not 100% convinced the problems on Defense are caused by the Coordinator.  We had an awful defense under Mallory, was really thinking our defense would improve under Knorr, but it has not.  I am coming to believe it is all about the personnel at this point. 

That does come back on both Wilson and Knorr, but I do think we will be better with a year under the belts of the defensive backs, and I believe we have a couple of guys waiting in the wings, that should help.

Didn't get to watch the game was driving up to Chicago so listened to about 3 quarters on the Purdue broadcast.  Its astonishing how little football those guys know. 

 

Great to get the win.  Lets hope the D can rest and get healthy so we can get a better showing in the bowl game.  A bowl game win would be huge for recruiting.

 

I am not a Wilson supporter but this won him an extension for sure.  And we should probably pony up for some better assistants. 

 

I get that Knorr doesn't have the players for his defense, he either needs to adapt his defense for the players he has or he needs to be replaced.  With our decreased offensive prowess next year we are going to need a defense that can at least slow the other team down consistently. 

 

But all and all great to get a win.  Great to have the bucket 3 years in a row.  My dad wasn't alive the last time that happened.

Yep. He and maybe Wes Green back there will be a nice duo. Just need to keep building depth.
