Indiana falls to UNLV - 72-69 - 6th Place Maui Invitational - 1st place Embarrassment-for-Fans Classic

For the last few years IU has started fast, peaked early, and finished weakly. Given this November disaster, I don't know what to expect, but it could get really ugly.

this trend is explained normally by our level of competition. We duck the hard games and when we can't duck, we start losing them.

it looks like crean lost the team and or there is some kind of turmoil within the team we don't know about. What to expect is any body's guess but just showing up and trying won't be enough. They have to play smart and learn a few things on defense or it will be bad

They can't fix the defense bc the coach doesn't know how to coach defense.

J Will made a comment about how we have 3 guys who like to leave their feet and then pass the ball. He continued saying why not jump stop and make a fundamental pass. It reminded me of what a friend said after watching part of a warm up before a game a couple years ago. He was telling N me the guys were actually practicing jumping out of bounds and passing to the corner. This is the crap Crean is teaching these players. It is not a surprise that we have 3 McD All Americans and we suck.

This team has no shot at a deep run this year. You can't win in the tourney with poor defense and sloppy turnovers. We do both exquisitely well. I'll just leave it at that and be done with IU til next week. Enjoy Thanksgiving all

Don't be done, we still have to beat Purdue to go to a bowl game. Lets cheer on our football team! #BeatFreakingPurdue

I can't sleep. It's 2:45am and that game still has me up. Turnovers yeah, defense yeah, I expected that. I mean it's the same darn team as last year, minus 1 dude really. What? There some kind of magic potion they took was supposed to change that over the summer? Nope. Anyway, that's not why I'm up.....It's the screens man! The screens! I re-watched some after I got home and what I saw was a glaring difference between the ball screens Vegas was setting and the one's we attempted. Every single time UNLV would set a high ball screen, our on-ball defenders would get stuck like a midget to a Velcro target. The result of that being a blow by of TB or Hartman who would come out to high to help aaaand layup. Every time. Our on-ball guys had no idea these screens were there...oblivious although it was done each possesion.
On offense, IU tried setting several ball (screens) for Yogi, Rojo and Troy. Each of these attempts completely whiffed. I mean I doubt the Vegas defenders even felt a cool breeze as they waltzed through to continue their duties. Not just ball screens, all screens. The Vegas players knew they were coming. They didn't even have to go under the screen, they went through like it wasn't there. There were multiple occasions where their defenders could be seen looking over their shoulders to see where it was coming from. I'm saying they knew man! Dig it? They were communicating and at least aware of what might happen...we were not. IU, please get better at this. Thank you.

On a rare positive note.....Max is a great addition. I thought Juwan and OG logged some positive minutes, they can play. Nick is our x-factor, brings experience and instant offense off the bench. It's to early to give up on this team. Let's regroup, refocus, get home and get back to work. Go Hoosiers!

Ziesloft does deserve major credit here for mounting a one man comeback nearly. Im also just incredibly impressed with max. He has a small bag of tricks that are very reliable. Him being able to hit that open 3 or jumper is pretty big for the team actually.

We have just GOT to feed the big man. He starts going to work and the defense is forced to collapse. They constantly bypassed him and TB was getting visibly frustrated.

We Seem To Be Bringing Out The Very Best In Our Opponents!

Because our defense stinks. We give up to many easy baskets that leads to the other players getting confident and that is hard to take back. It is like when you have a good shooter and is struggling sometimes a free throw or a layup will get him going well we let our opponents get going right off the bat and usually do nothing to stop them

Get to Bloomington where we get to pad our win total with overmatched teams like Kennesaw St. and have a gigantic margin of error, until we go to Cameron Indoor and that margin goes away.  Sounds....interesting.

I hope when we beat the heck out of them crean don't act like we grew up matured and loved the way we responded. He was happy after the St jhons game and I thought that game was worse than Monday. It makes me wonder if we can't tell that we are playing a poor team. Just like yesterday he was trying to trump up unlv but time will tell. They couldn't shoot from distance and I don't feel they will be that good

He will.  There's also a non zero chance he'll say something like "they're like an SEC team".
