Indiana vs Creighton Post Game Thread

Thomas Bryant is the real deal. Coach needs to watch his minutes this early in the season, and depth losing Hanner will hurt in the B1G. Really like Bryant's hustle. I don't like our on ball defense and Troy not taking better care of the ball in year 3. Overall, this team has loads of talent; I will be interested to see how we use it. We have really strong guard play but size will hurt us again as last year. Nice win tonight.

My exact thoughts on the game.

Man this team is fun. Where all the JBJ haters at? Gotta work on our halfcourt offense, not always gonna shoot so well. Bryants passion is awesome

I'll step up and admit I was dogging JBJ's defense after last game. I saw more effort and communication from him tonight. Liked the assists from JBJ tonight too.

Had to listen to the first half, but truly enjoyed the 2nd. Really hope they keep it up in Maui.

Defense was much improved for sure.  We still don't have a lockdown defenders, so teams with a really dynamic guard are going to be able to score by feeding him.  The real test will be when we start seeing teams with 2 of them. 

 

Offense actually looked much better in the second half as well seemed to slow it down and find open looks outside of transition.  Troy needs to slow it down still but otherwise very happy overall with the offensive effort. 

 

Considering our opponent very good game.  Would like to see us continue to work on the half court offense and the D needs to become a constant but overall good things.

That was a WOW game. Got a little complacent as a team except TB late but totally controlled. JB balled out. Fun team and fun game. Vanderbilt could be a great test to see if we can handle size. Morgan is not comfortable at all. Anunoby looks a little better.

I hate to bring it up but the recruiting analysts were right. 5 stars are impact players. 3 stars not so much.

Max should just spread the floor and get put backs offensively unless he has someone undersized guarding him.

Outside of turnovers---not much negative to say---complete game by the Hoosiers.  Creighton never sniffed a chance in this one as we were in control the entire game. 

 

Guards were solid again and Thomas Bryant just had his coming out party. He is the real deal and his fire is fun to watch!

 

Yogi with 9 boards on an off-shooting night---that's what I'm talking about.

 

We were somewhat exposed as being smallish up front when TB was out--gotta watch out for Vandy there because they are huge inside.

 

Max had some trouble with Creighton's length---but I loved the announcers calling him "Maximus!"

 

The Great News is the Defense was much improved--a lot less lunging tonight.

 

First real test of the season and we passed it with flying (literally) colors!

Agreed, I wouldn't say we had a complete game against Creighton and we won by 20+.  Troy didn't have a great game, RoJo and Max struggled a bit and we still had 86.

Shot up the defensive rankings on KenPom after that. 18 steps up to 60th! Still one of the worst teams for TO% and getting to the line though.

Well taking our foot off the pedal near the end cost us our number 1 offensive ranking on Kenpom.  But we moved up 18 spots on the defense.
