(2016) PF De'Ron Davis to IU

Recommended Posts

Overland knocks off unbeaten Eaglecrest 63-41 tonight. DD with 10 pts. is all that's out for now. Boxscore

Newspaper account of the game.  There are no additional stats for DD but there is a nice quote.

Seems like he's more of a 5 than TB. If TB stays, I'd say DD would be the rebound key and TB be the ppg guy. Sounds dumb but hopefully somebody understand what I'm saying?

RoJo
JBJ
OG
TB
DD

------

Troy
Collin
Juwan
Freshman cast.

Seems like everyone seems to forget about Newkirk. Isn't he suppose to be the true PG? DD is going to do a significant amount of everything his rookie year.

Newkirk
JBJRojo
Troy
OG/DD
TB

DD/OG
Colin
Rojo
Juwan
CuJo

Remaining cast

I'd say that is a solid ten. Would Rojo transfer? I hope not.

I'd be shocked if Newkirk started over Rojo

To be honest, I wasn't sure about Newkirk. I don't really know that much about his game. I just thought he was a true PG. Rojo isn't getting hardly any play at the 1. I haven't really seen much that would lead me to believe that his skill set transfers over to true point guard.

Could someone talk a little bit about Newkirk and what he would bring to the table next year? I suppose this should probably be in a separate thread. My bad. Mods feel free to move, if you're so inclined.

I'm curious whether that's the lineup you would pick, or the lineup you think Crean would go with?

Troy goes pro
Newkirk
Rojo
Jbj
Hartman
TB
First off the bench:
DD
Og
Juwan
Cujo
Niego

2/5, Overland defeated Smoky Hill 69 - 48. Davis with 5 pts. Only had 2 fouls so not sure why his stat total might be low.

he doesn't seem to be stacking up the points. Wonder why? Team virtually wins every game so he is doing his part I suppose. Noticed this with Vonleh too. On the contrary, Vonleh's team wasn't winning much.

A lot of times committed kids who are team players let other teammates do the scoring to help with their recruiting. He also had like 4 blocked shots so it looks like he was focusing on defense. I'm not too worried about his scoring because he can be a really good offensive player of he wants to be. I'm extremely excited for next year with a potential TB/DD/OG combo. It would be hard to score in the paint with those 3 gaurding.

DD is not going to be a high PPG guy is my guess. I think he will be an impact guy from day 1 though. I think he will be a 6-8 PPG guy as a freshman especially if TB stays. However, I think he makes us better on both ends of court due to size, athleticism, team play.

So basically like what Davis has been for MSU so far this year.
