WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Not sure where to put this but this is interesting. Crean also made reference to potentially adding someone. Was vague, but it's worth mentioning. IU has a scholarship open. #iubb hoosierpap 1 Quote

hoosierpap Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 What's the word pap I think he's talking about Jordan Fuchs. Can't really imagine Crean is in a position to bring someone not enrolled in at this point. Quote
NoahW35 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Is Donovan Hale still planning to play basketball as well? I thought I remembered him saying that was part of the reason he chose IU Quote

MartintheMopMan Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 https://twitter.com/btndaverevsine/status/676992716950097922 And now my reply from the other thread, with the snarkiness appropriate for this thread. Yeah, Bo had 1 AA and 0 banners and Coach K had 30 and 2 banners (or 3 depending on how they counted the AAs). So, maybe rankings matter sometimes. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 also Bo's deepest run in NCAA came with one of his highest rated players ever in Dekker. Granted Kaminsky was every bit as important and probably more important that Dekker but just an interesting coincidence. I believe Dekker was to be a Senior this year if he had not left. Might have changed things, might not. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Also how was Dekker not an AA? Biggest snub ever? Rated 7-15 in nearly all ranking services. IUsafety 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 yeah mdn, that may be the point. I think it would make most IU fans mad, and that is why it will be harder to do it. Generally, with players at the end of the bench that get no play, fans are perfectly fine to see them go. This is an interesting predicament, IF INDEED, it is a predicament at all. I think everyone forecasted that Priller would be a roster spot/transfer candidate from day 1, just like April. Crazy odd commitments from Priller and April to begin with. Whenever I see fans talk about how great Crean is with recruiting, these are 2 that pop in my head immediately. Quote

Uspshoosier Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Thought I would bring this back for people who are in the RP thread talking about rankings and do they matter Walking Boot of Doom 1 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 While talking to many people in the college basketball world ( coaches, scouts, media) most agree rankings are fan driven. They are made for fans. As one put it fans like to have a visual of where there fans stack up with other rival fans. No coach I talked to would say that they put stock into paying attention to rankings when they are on the recruiting trail and most the scouts have told me there isn't an exact science and there really isn't a way to see everyone. Most national scouts have a big area that they cover with local scouts under them to recruit locally. All the locals meet with the national scout a couple times a year in a meeting usually right before a new ranking is being released. Rankings should be a guideline for people to inform the own conclusion about a recruit Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Iugradman, reconmkd and Old Friend 3 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Couple of really talented guys in Top 25 who play with so little effort, not worth money they'll be bought with. Not a "rankings guy", Dinos, would never recruit by rankings. Recently saw a "Top 60" who will play in NBA. I understand your frustration@franfrascilla Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Stuhoo 1 Quote
