IU @ MSU Post-Game Thread

Indiana is close.  Painfully close.  But....this team might be the worst I've ever seen on 3rd down.  Defense especially, but really on both sides of the ball.  How can you get 9 yards on 1st down, and look like it's the hardest thing ever to get that last yard on 2nd and 3rd?  How do you give up 75%+ of third downs on defense when you have as many 3rd and 10's as Indiana had...and played against the run as well as any Indiana team I've ever seen.   Maddening.

Not a fan of saying the score isn't indicative of the way the game went, but today it truly is.

We earned and deserve that score. Two straight games where we collapse in the 4th quarter.

The halftime score and playing a team close into the third quarter means nothing when you give up late, long rushing scores during a time you should be expecting runs.  Anyone expect anything different against Iowa and Michigan?

Earned and deserved? It is what it is I guess, but I'm not sure you and I were watching the same game. I saw a team that played its nuts off against a better team, and were dragging ass at the end. I expect them to leave it all out on the field every game, Iowa and Michigan included.

I'll agree to a point, but I believe MSU's last TD was playing to the polls/playoff committee more than their opponent.

They just ran the ball. Our poor play allowed two long 4th quarter rushing touchdowns.  The were trying to just run out the clock.

Then we almost give the ball back to them on MSU's last kick off.  We blew a 25 point lead last week and 24 straight points late today.  Any positive feelings I had in the first half were destroyed by a continued pattern of 4th quarter dumpster fires. We almost handed Wake Forest the game in the 4th quarter.  It is a disturbing pattern.

The moral victories have to eventually stop if IUFB is ever going to get over that hump. Of course they play hard, but the difference between MSU and IU is MSU knows how to finish and win. Same can be said of OSU, Wisky, and even Michigan.

I am fine with moral victories against OSU/MSU if they can be built upon and become wins against PSU, Rutgers and UMD. Sadly they don't.

I can't imagine this trend really changes until we develop more depth, especially in our secondary. The kids just look gassed come 4th quarter.

If they must be on the field that much it's up to the coaching staff to make sure they are in shape to do it.

That's an impossible expectation maybe if we were playing with leads and the opposing teams had to pass. But not being down week in and week out. We were down to Rutgers for awhile till that crazy third even.
