Whoa. Man I'm excited about Rob coming. I'm no talent expert, but to my eyes Rob is the best recruit we have coming in. It's hard to tell but he is very much built for B1G play. When you see him play he pops just the same as the other star recruits. And man is he on a tear this year.

That and his height. He is right at 6’0”. So you see some over and some under. That is pretty much the college PG size so I am not too worried.

From Archie's radio show last night on Phinisee -

On Robert Phinisee’s play this season: “He’s had a lot of pressure on him. He’s on a different team than he’s had in the past. But Robert is off to a great start. He’s had a tremendous start to the season in terms of point production and just production overall. When we were with Rob multiple times this fall, one of the things he’s really spent a lot of time on is his outside shot. I think him being able to shoot the ball right now is really helping him because he’s always had the ability to get into the paint. He’s a tremendous kid. He’s a competitive kid. He’s smart. I think physically, he’s a lot different than he’s going to be in college. I think he’s going to be a sturdy guy who can defend the ball and push the ball for us. We’re really pleased. Rob’s off to a good start.”

He had a much better supporting cast his sophomore season when they made it to the state finals and even last year.  Those players are gone and he has to be "the man" this season and he's definitely proving he can be that man.

Phinsee and McCutcheon currently playing a Friday afternoon game against Brayton  Bailey and Bedford North Lawrence.  With his first bucket today, Phinisee became the new Tippecanoe County all-time career scoring leader with 1,608 pts.

At halftime, McC leads 38-32; Phinisee with 18 pts.

This season has alleviated all concerns I have at PG next season on. This kid is ready. Love that he’s going to be a multi-year guy. Without a Shabazz type college career, he should be here four years.

I’m slow to the uptake, but not being in Indiana means I don’t get to see these kids in person ever. Good call Old Friend on this kid.

Sometimes you swing and miss and get better. Looked up DG to try and find season numbers and could only find 3 games. For 2018-19 DG may still prove to be the better player but I am feeling very good about who we got for 2018-22 and beginning to think RP is closing the gap for 2018-19.

Also good to have the kid who was not suspended during the season.

Knew this kid was special after seeing him play for the first time last season. Even last year he was so smooth and under control the entire game. Scored with ease and yet seemed just as capable of a floor general. Almost looked more satisfied setting up his teammates and getting stops on defense. Regardless of how long he's here, he's going to be a fan favorite and we'll be able to look back and celebrate the success he had while he was a Hoosier.
