Are you kidding? They never offered, they have someone else better they're recruiting, he has a stench about him, he wanted to commit but Painter wouldn't let him, he didn't have the grades, he couldn't meet pu standards, etc.

Didn't accept the smell of cow manure too

If we get phinisee I presume we lose out on dort/Garland/everyone else but Romeo? I like him but it kinda would hurt our chances with higher recruits.

I don't believe landing Phinisee puts us out of the race with everyone else but Romeo.  Garland would start day 1 if he decided to play in Btown.  A backcourt of Phinisee and Dort in the same class could workout as well.  I don't see Phinisee starting as a freshman unless we're really in need.  He would be a nice piece to contribute a little and then take over as he developed and got stronger.

Getting the commitment from Phinisee means we'd have a solid four year PG that also supports Archie's inside out narrative. It's a win.

The bigger win, in my opinion, is that this would complete the need-based recruiting for 2018 really early on in the recruiting cycle, and allow the staff to focus only on the longshots of Moses Brown and Romeo Langford.

Im all for concentrating on Brown & Langford.

I dont think Romeo is a longshot at all , Brown I agree.

Sounds like it could possibly go till the end of the month before we hear our name being called.

If it seems like a given, why is it taking so long?

Good Question!!  I know that OSU is pushing hard that he would get immediate playing time there.

Very few players that are going to be upcoming seniors commit two weeks after July eval. Because they are getting back into school and decompressing. Juniors are more ambitious if they know. A senior that has waited this long typically isn't going to commit in this timeframe. I would have been more surprised if he actually committed this last weekend than had he not. If he were to do that he would have done it in July imo. Most upcoming Seniors haven't hung out with friends all summer in their last free summer. Committing now just adds media time and attention. End of August or early September probably.

Man, how sweet would it be to snag this kid from the backyard of the Toiletmakers!

Agreed. I want this kid. I think he can do his role well. He is a good complimentary piece. If we expect him to come in as an alpha he would fail. He is a steady PG that if his role is to facilitate and not do too much he can give you quality minutes imo. He is not a Garland or Anthony. Anthony is the beast and best of the two I wish we could get even as a '19. Won't happen but a man can dream.
