Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Ft. Wayne South Side overcame a 17-point second-quarter deficit to beat Jay County 72-69 in overtime in the Class 4A boys basketball sectional at Huntington North..Boucher with 22 pts.; 7 of which he scored in the OT. The following came from Phenom Hoop Report: Ft Wayne South- #4 Austin Boucher 6’2’’ point guard that can shoot from anywhere! Doesn't have the greatest ball handling ability but did well in his situation. Austin is a lock down defender and a great Shooter. He has a few DI offers but he is still unsigned Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Boucher with 54 pts. but Ft. Wayne South Side still loses to Muncie Central 110 - 104 in a semi-final sectional game. ccgeneral, LockdownD and hoosierpap 3 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 North Side's Austin Boucher transfers to prep school in Maryland By Justin Kenny, jkenny@news-sentinel.com Monday, September 26, 2016 3:57 PM Guard Austin Boucher has transferred to a prep school in Maryland, his father confirmed on Monday. The 6-foot-1 junior had recently been declared ineligible for varsity competition by the Indiana High School Athletics Association after transferring from South Side to North Side following his sophomore year. Instead of electing to compete in the 2016-17 season at the junior varsity level, Boucher decided to head to the East Coast and attend St. James Prep School in Hagerstown. "He could have played junior varsity, but we felt like he had to play," said Austin's father Joel Boucher. "It is a good opportunity at one of the top academic schools in the country." Boucher played his first two seasons at South Side, showing off his tremendous scoring acumen and terrific ballhandling. In his final game as an Archer last March, Boucher scored 54 points in a 110-104 loss to Muncie Central in sectional play, the fifth-most points ever scored in an Indiana high school tournament game. Boucher transferred to North Side this past summer, but South Side did not sign off on him being immediately eligible for basketball. The IHSAA ruled similarly after the case was taken to the state level. There is a possibility that Boucher - who is top five academically in his class - returns to North Side for his senior season. "That might be what happens, but we will leave it up to (Austin)," said Joel Boucher about a potential return. With just a single Division I offer from Ball State, the belief is a change of geographical location could help recruiting heat up. "Things may go so well out there he doesn't want to leave," Joel Boucher said. "I think this gives him the opportunity to be recruited by some East Coast schools." WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I think I've got the timeline down on this kid: Went to Norwell Middle School, transferred to Bellmont and repeated 8th grade, transferred to South Side and played for 2 years, mysteriously sat for a few games last Christmas and was rumored to have left the team, transferred to North Side last summer and is now transferring to prep school in Maryland. Matt Carlino thinks this kid transfers too much. Stuhoo, IUsafety, WayneFleekHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
