Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession

Recommended Posts

Guilt by association is and always had been the chicken sh*t way for it to work.

Not a bad song if you like that style of punk though.

Got banned from the gym during lunch in high school for a long time for singing that when a group of us were getting kicked out and only a couple people had been breaking the rules.

No smoking, where did the odor come from, Bob Marley's ghost? Was it was just a mere coincidence DD's room was the room in which the odor was emanating from and he and Hanner were in the room together? The athletic program should have immediately subjected both parties to a drug test. If positive for Hanner - goodbye, even if not positive for Devin - goodbye for having the product in his possession.

Maybe this type of behavior will stop if a couple of players are shown the door in lieu of the "alleged tough love" policy currently in place.

If nobody was smoking, how did the odor of marijuana smoke from a 2nd floor window get noticed? From outside?

That would take a decent amount of smoke from a room in which nobody was smoking.

I missed the part of the report that said there was odor coming from the room. I'll wait until I see an official report from IUPD or Devin/the team before I make any judgements.

Amazing there are people here that hate Crean so much they are trying to blame this on him. LOL

How is it not atleast partially his fault? He recruited the players. He is the one that has never handed out stiff punishments and just slapped them on the wrist. He is atleast some of the problem.

I am not talking about what happened legally. The kid had it in his possession. Do you honestly think he was not going to or had not already smoked it? You can play the guilty until proven innocent theory, but I believe this whole team lost that right with our 1st 4 or 5 rules infractions. It is fairly simple Millions of humans do it every day, just DO NOT break the law.

I was arrested for possession of drug paraphenalia. They found 3 crack pipes under my seat (that my hitch-hiker put there) I've never so  much as considered trying an illegal drug, ever.

According to IUPD spokesperson Lt. W. Craig Munroe, officers received a call around 8 p.m. about an odor of marijuana coming from a residence inside Hickory Hall. When officers arrived they could detect the odor coming from a second floor window. Inside, officers identified two individuals, one of whom was a resident who allowed officers permission to search the room. Munroe said they found a small amount of marijuana in a backpack owned by Davis, who was served a citation for possession of marijuana under 30 grams.

I'm curious how this latest incident will affect Crean's status.  Wasn't it implied he was on a short leash earlier in the spring by Glass?

Crean is Glass's little puppy he will swat him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and all will be forgoten before he leaves the office.

I'm not concerned about other schools, this is IUBB. I'm probably much older than most on here, but I remember when iubb was synonymous with excellence on and off the court. Am I naive enough to think that past players didn't drink or smoke? No, but they had enough sense/respect not to get caught.

I may or may not be as old as you, but the whole notion of "do it but don't get caught" just comes across to me as absolutely silly.

I doubt they detected an odor coming from the 2nd floor window, despite what officer Munroe said....

He was told what room it was and "needed" positive identification of the aroma for justification....

Hanner is on Zero tolerance. DD was not on zero tolerance. Could very well be a player taking the heat to save Hanner at IU...

Just saying it's completely feasible. Still dumb, but I'm not sure you can fully blame either of them with the info we know right now.

*We do know they were both dumb for being in the situation, but to blame just one player doesn't seem right at all.

I might be in the minority but if DD stepped up and took the blame good on him.  This team needs cohesion in the worst way.  However, it's dumb of them to be in that position in the first place.

I literally said that in my post that you quoted.

Its the program off-court history here Gordon and as someone said in an earlier comment, these are his recruits.

Not only is Davis and Hanner his recruits but on CTC's watch and hence his responsibility.

I am sure everyone here never made any decision that "disrespected" your parents or anyone else you held in high regard growing up. Give me a break. You can preach and preach on what not to do, but people are going to do what they are going to do.

And for every choice, there is a consequence. So go ahead and do what you're gonna do, knock yourself out. Just don't be surprised when the final hammer drops on you, either.
