AZ Hoosier

Blackmon Jr returning to IU

No, swagger does not mean that. Having swagger literally means to be arrogant or cocky. It means that you are posturing. I don't get how that is a good or admirable thing. I don't understand why it should be celebrated.

Come on, man. Whats wrong with beating yourself in the chest while pointing to the crowd or poking yourself in the head with three fingers after a three point shot only to give up an easy layup 3 seconds later because you didnt get back?

I love that swag on three-point shots when they don't get back to play defense, that's the best

We've told these kids how great they are since middle school. I guess we shouldnt be surprised. Its the way things are done these days. Heck, even I am weighing my options. Will I come back to BTB next season? Plan to announce my decision this Saturday at the eastside McDonalds in Richmond, In.

Only you care.

It is all time and place dependent.  When you are beating Purdue by 30+ in Mackey you have my permission to flex towards a student section that would still chant "IU Sucks!".  Completely appropriate swag even if you give up a 3 pointer on the other end.

Regarding the Blackmon decision: it reminds me of Jay Edward's decision to go pro, with the exception that Jay was a reliable, dead-eye assassin and JBJ not so much.  Edwards crashed and burned with superior skills (at the time of his leaving), it doesn't make any sense for Blackmon.

P.S. How can JBJ or Yogi possibly have more "potential" or "upside" than A.J. Hammons?

Not to be argumentative, but can you explain how you can say that "he lacks consistency, emotion and any inch of D" and in the same thought, follow it up with "I really love JBJs game...". That simply does not compute. You basically dissed everything about "his game" while saying that you loved it.

I see that you conveniently left out the part where I said I loved his potential.
Ive watched James since high school and saw him play multiple times over the years. "His" game is his shooting. I love his shot and his scoring ability. He makes scoring look easy most of the time and that is why he was brought in. Now this year for some some he did have games where he would disappear, of course I didn't like that.
JBJ has never been much of an emotional player, which I think hurts him and he never has been known for playing D. Emotion and Defense are not part of "his" game, but are things that he needs to improve on and add to his game. So I can say I love his game (shooting and scoring) and also say that he lacks on the emotional side and his D"

Will there be a live stream?  Since it snowed here last night I am reluctant to make the 9 hour drive to see your decision in person

I wasn't looking for an argument - and said as much. My point was simply that you said that you loved his game after, basically, saying that he had none. Leaving out the "potential" was not intentional, nor was it meant to shade your comment in any way. I agree that JBJ has a huge upside based on his potential.

I also agree that he needs to step up both the emotion and the defense. And clearly, these are things that he can work on in the college game. I hope for his sake, as well as ours, that he returns. I cannot imagine that Daddy is behind JBJ's consideration of leaving IU for any reason, but especially for the NBA.

Again, no harm intended in any of my comments, previous or current.

Swag is a good thing folks. Victor Oladipo sweats swag. It's all about how you carry yourself. You know swag when someone walks in the room and everyone gets quiet or immediately knows they are there.

Swag is having the ability to back up what you set out to do, and look good doing it.

Confidence in your own ability is the #2 principle of swag.
The #1 principle... Accomplishing what you are supposed to accomplish and how you position yourself to accomplish those goals.

Principle #2 without #1 is cockiness.

Damn I just wrote a bunch of words about Swagger. My Thursday is complete.

Are you writing a thesis on Swag? Teaching a course called Swaggerology?
