IU Hoosier41

OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season

Recommended Posts

He's probably either preparing for the draft or preparing for next season. Either way, I'm sure he's putting in work. The kid is definitely committed to improving himself as a player.

Just my opinion but the only way Yogi increases his draft stock is leadership and the team making a deep run. Nothing about announcing you will make a decision in two weeks or announcing your decision at a steakhouse in Indy screams leadership.

Again just my opinion but this is another episode in a long series of WTH moments that is IU basketball in recent history.

I will say the obvious, if Yogi uses "The Announcement" to depart IU, it will rank as one of the most unpopular PR moves in Indiana history (?).

Love Yogs as our PG. Wish him well no matter what, even if the aforementioned occurs but man, if it does, Yogi goes from one of the more beloved Hoosiers to one of the "Bracey Wright's" in one days time.

Maybe an exaggeration but not by much. Just hoping for the best.

And.......what does ND Kendrick know that Dan Dakich doesn't???

Picture this- Yogi Ferrell is in the steak house and the camera is zoomed on him. He's surrounded by girls that are shorter than him, which strikes curiosity into our forum. Did he grow some since the tournament? He says "Next year, I will be..." and the camera zooms out to reveal Yogi sitting on the shoulders of the 7'0 5 star big man from Sudan. He continues, "...returning to IU and bringing Thon Maker with me."

Lol... Love this.

I see your point. But I think his track record is solid when he speaks up. When has he been wrong?

I am choosing to ignore him on this one the best I can, because I want Yogs back and have my blinders on.

Honestly, I can't name the prior situations, but there were a few calls he made that flopped. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't trust his sources.

I think the fact that we are talking about Yogi going pro to this length is funny. He isn't projected high (at all). So either he leaves a great chance to have a team that can  be good (we'll see), or he skips out. My guess is the D league or overseas.

I am fine either way on this one. 11 days and we will see.

Whatever Yogi ends up doing, we have to be happy for him. A player of his caliber should have the dream to play in the NBA. If he does indeed declare for the draft, I wish him the best and see him embracing the "underdog" role as he fights to make a team and earn playing time. Not many players of his caliber have the end goal of playing in D1 college basketball. No, they all want to play in the NBA. Who cares about how he's announcing his decision. We have to support him either way. It comes down to whether or not pursuing the NBA is the best decision for him and his family right now, or if hanging up banner #6 and cementing his legacy at IU while increasing his draft value even more is the best decision. Risk is involved with each decision.

He could've just been making a prediction like the rest of us. That's the bad thing about guys like him is if they make a guess and people will take it as he's saying that will happen.

Agree w you on this! Leadership is what we need the most for next season. I don't think he has it in him with stuff like this. Too full of himself a little bit?? Btw, huge yogi fan here. See name

At the very least, this is not an ethos of leadership. "A leader demonstrates concern and consideration for those being lead."  Prof. W. Paul Borkowski, others.
