Recruiting Momentum

Recommended Posts

Who? Bryant? That kid is NOT coming to IU. Guaranteed. Makur is 2016. Kasongo is a Juco who is unproven and had the shadiest recruitment I have ever seen. They couldn't find him at one point. Literally. Who are we kicking off the team? Priller? Stan? April? Please let it be Stan.

Take 5 man. You're getting ridiculous.

Johnny Hamilton is one name to look for. There's a kid in Florida. Plus there are sure to be kids we don't know about yet. I actually think it makes a lot of sense for IU to feel good about Bryant. We will clearly be the best team out of his choices, other than UK. Uncertainty there as well. We'll see. IU is in that one for sure and everyone keeps saying Chuck can set it up. Crean obviously has to close the deal.

As far as departures, there are obviously two kids who have draft thoughts. April is an obvious goner. Priller I would assume as well but not sure. Zeisloft could pay his way next year, there had been some discussion of that.

I get your disdain for Stan right now; he looks really bad on offense and makes some dumb plays defensively as well. Crean loves his sick puppies... it may reach the point where he moves on but for now I think they are still working with him.

MSB and April are gone. Pray YF and TW don't go pro as we will be a top 10 team if they stay and we add a serviceable big.

I don't see Troy going anywhere! Yogi? Ya never know but i sure wish I had an extra year to be a kid with no responsibilites...

I think Crean sees Rob as Yogis replacement and is looking to get a backup point guard for Rob. All I know is, I expect a wild off season again. I hope we don't lose our horses. Crean ISN'T recruiting well enough to replace them.

Pap said the other day that our recruiting is going along much better now.....fyi

yeah, saw that. Time will tell, I mean Morgan and Anunoby > Priller and April but improved isn't saying much considering the dropoff we suffered. I'm cautiously optimistic but we have a ways to go.

Comparatively, Wayne has a point.

Spring was about as in the dumps as it gets. Heard a b10 coach say after the Priller/April signings that Crean is either going to look like a mad scientist or like he has totally lost it, because he'd never heard of either. Not to write those guys off or anything but it hasn't panned out so well so far.

I do feel like momentum is genuinely up since even Morgan/OG though, but that is more of a feeling.

No one on this board wanted him before the season. Now he's proven he can't make up for it on the court. Let go

He's actually began to do the opposite. He's still making some mistakes, but he's making solid contributions as well. Let go of your hate

Stan Makes mistakes on defense but from a physical standpoint he has been the best option on a hot hand.

He really lost confidence after the trouble and the failed shooting experiment.

I still think he can be a good player on this team given he realizes his role and plays within it.

Something I believe about recruiting and Coach Crean is that he absolutely needs skilled big men.  The only two big men who had good careers at IU with Crean (Zeller & Vonleh) came in incredibly skilled.  He seems to do a pretty good job developing gaurds, but bigs HAVE to be good when they get here.  Big man projects are a joke right now.  And so, he'll either get a really good big man (hopefully Bryant) or we'll continue to see a bunch of wings and gaurds on the floor with project big men on the bench- rotating in and out of the program like a revolving door (as they have since he got here).  Here's to you Mr. Bryant!  We NEED you!!

If it wasn't for Stan, Luke would still be here. If it wasn't for Stan, this preseason would not have blown up like it did. Stan has messed up so much off the court, his ONLY way of redeeming himself is on the court. And you pat him on the back for having a far worse season than his Freshman one. You have the rosiest glasses of any poster I have ever seen. He has regressed and to top it all off he's a head case. But sure, we should keep him and boot a kid who gives a shit about the program.

You honesty believe that all of this is on one player? If you're looking for a scape goat, he's as good of one as any. If you're looking to assign blame, I suggest looking towards someone who has greater control over the program.
