Odd annual rumor

Recommended Posts

Yeah. I think it's ridiculous too. Odd it's coming up again though. I also agree with Kepner that Yogi needs more Hoosier love and support.

I'm a big fan and will hate the day he's no longer a Hoosier. I just hope he's getting Paid at the next stop.

He technically could be a grad transfer though. I think Momma wants him at IU too bad for any of this junk to have substance.

Yogi is underappreciated.

He is literally taking one for the team this year by concentrating more on his passing and less on his scoring.

Sure his shooting percentages are way down in the Big-----but he has come up big in tough games with key shots and free throws.

As good as JBJ is---he still hasn't shown the ability to take over a game the way Yogi has.....

I can't imagine this team without Yogi.  Since the B1G started every team has tried to take Yogi out of the game.  He's continuing to learn and control the game.  I'm really looking forward to seeing Yogi as a senior leading the team to bigger and better things for the TEAM and himself.

I agree with those who believe Yogi could go down as the most under appreciated Hoosier in a long time.

I'm Yogi's biggest fan. Aways have been. This kid coulda went ANYWHERE to play ball. We are lucky to have him. I don't know about any UCLA rumors. But, with the current climate in cbb I have said many times it wouldn't surprise me if he did transfer that last year, especially to a team ready to make a run at a FF.

I agree that Yogi gets under-appreciated, I'm not sure where this team would be without him this year. If he gets his shooting stroke back, we could be a lot better than we even currently are.

With that said, the way you get appreciated at a school like IU, especially when you're a McDonald's AA point guard, is by winning. Unfortunately for Yogi, while he was a key player on the 12/13 team, that will always be the "Zeller/VO/Hulls/Watford team", and Yogi will be judged on his final 2-3 years at IU.

I'm not saying the losing last year is his fault by any means, but people at IU's level are judged by winning and the face of the program is Crean/Yogi right now. Finish this year out strong (top 2-4 in conference) and make a small run in the tourney, then come back strong next year and compete for a conference title, and Yogi's legacy at IU will be just fine.

If they falter down the stretch here, then a bunch of guys bolt and we struggle again next year, Yogi will be the talented AA point guard that couldn't make his teams better.

It's not really fair to him, but at a school like IU "it is what it is".

Big-time D1 college basketball programs are designed to provide two primary accomplishments:

1) To obtain a college degree
2) To develop basketball-wise to the greatest point possible before trying to make a living for a while as a basketball player.

I have NO inside info, but given that Yogi will have accomplished both of these goals by the end of this academic year...

-> We better appreciate the heck out of him now.
-> It is entirely possibly that Yogi will not be back next year.

I agree with this, but I think that if he leaves, it's to go pro, not to play at another college.
