Rick Bozich On Crean and Co.

Recommended Posts

Fair comment. This is the year to overachieve and so far, so good. But, he has a lot of work to do. I'm rooting for him and always for my Hoosiers. If he misses the tournament, say thanks and bye. If he makes it and Stevens becomes availabe, you probably do the same. A decade of coaching should put us in championship contention yearly and the results speak for themselves. Bozich conveniently left those out. Wonder why?

Assuming you are officially playing the role of Fred Glass, exactly what work does Crean need to complete to keep his job even if Brad Stevens was available?  Now let's assume you are Brad Stevens.  Based on your above comment (the official AD) would you take the job? Why or Why Not?

I keep reading overachieve. Translation:Crean is getting the most out of what he's got. Funny how winning changes things, the same "experts" that were calling for his head are now whispering coach of the year. Neither of which will likely happen. As far as saving his job, it was never in jeopardy.

Good article----good points backed up by facts instead of paranoia---panic--and rumor-mongering!

Crean has taken a lot of crap----SOME of it undeserved and personal---great to see him get SOME credit too when things are going well.

In my book he's as good as any Coach in the Big Ten not named Ryan or Izzo----Go IU!

Everybody take three steps back. Now, you see it ? This is called the big picture. Big Bozich jumps at an opportunity to blow smoke up Creans rear (4-1 start), he gets a headline AND (big and here) it helps his son at some point with access to all things IU basketball. All about the Bozich's here.

Great read. I think he did a great job of putting this season and team into perspective. I doubt many of us expected to be Top25 at this point in the season.

It's so nice to be able to pull out close games and get the W! People seem to forget that last year was the only year we were bad and we graduated damn near EVERYONE.

Props to Crean for getting this team where they are. Let's hope they don't stop there and keep climbing.

That's why you read articles for factual content and "don't give a ----" what their opinion is.

I've been one of the ones who've criticized Crean at times and he deserved it at times. I've also tried to be complimentary at times when I felt he deserved it. My dad used to tell me when I was a kid, "son, some people live and learn and others just go through life. Which one are you gonna do? Your choice"

Hopefully Crean is one of those who is "living and learning"

There's really nothing wrong with criticism as long as it's fair and not malicious.

As for the article. It's nice but it's easy to wait until there is some success and kinda say I told ya so.

If I was Brad Stevens I wouldtake the Indiana job. It's his dream job and the chance to move his family back home at the top job in state. If I was Fred Glass I would never fire Crean, since my butt would be packing long before his. Glass will be gone before Crean just like Michigan's AD. Glass tied his future to Crean's with his contract and backed it up with his support earlier in the year. If Crean goes, Glass will be gone before which makes a lot of sense. If you were Stevens or Hoiberg would you want to work for Glass? Glass is tainted unless Creans wins big; a hell of a bet I would take in a heartbeat. How about you?

I thought the article was fair. I think Crean is doing a really good job this year and would not be surprised if he is considered for the coach of the year.

However, Crean still needs to find a way to get us over the hump and needs to produce teams that regularly compete for the BT championship.

We are early in the year but a couple wins this week will really propel us in that direction this year. The BT is down but next year is really the year where we should expect to compete on a national level. So in a way anything better than 5th in the BT is gravy this year.

My concern is that after the 2016 season Crean needs to find a way to balance his classes somehow so we do not find ourselves unable to compete for the BT championship because we again young.

So sure, this year is fun and next year could be better but we have to find a way to reload vs rebuild every 3 years.

Crean is all in on the 2017 class right now which looks to be one of the best classes we've had in awhile in the state of Indiana. The top AAU team in the nation for the 2017 is actually a team from Indiana and they are all high on Indiana and Crean has been letting them know that he is high on them as well

He needs some of them but he equally needs guys like RoJo, Emmit, Collin and Max to become solid 3rd year guys to lead some of those young 2017s. No reason to believe they will not but to maintain success those guys will have to be the keys.

I see it as a given that that Rojo and Emmitt will still be solid in that 3rd year. Max seems to have what it takes but well see. Collin will be a Senior that year though, but still we'll need leadership. Im not worried about that with those 4 guys

I think his main concern is that they will be solid third year players AT Indiana.

At least we are on the right track at the moment and the team is improving.

If we are going to constantly criticize Crean when things go wrong----then he ought to get some credit when things go right.

I agree that keeping some upperclassmen to build future classes around is going to be important.

Any solid professional with character that demands to work for an organization with the same level of integrity would not consider working for a university dismissing Crean with job he is currently doing.   The idea of firing Glass and Crean considering IU has the 2nd most wins against top 25 in the last 3.5 years is amazing.  I have no problems with the coaches you mentioned I think both are awesome; however, I appreciate what Tom Crean is in the process of putting together and the momentum of results have already began to spring up as we are sitting at 4-1 with a very small lineup due to injuries and LF transfer.

Hoiberg. I won't even allow myself to think it. No way he leaves Iowa St.  He would hang at least a sixth banner here maybe more.
