Nice to see Hanner finally tapping into all the potential he has.. If he keeps it together and continues to work his butt off, I could see him getting a shot in the league after next season. (Cue the haters)

BTW this high school vid of him is sick! I'd never seen it before now.. This kid oozes potential and I am absolutely enjoying watching him develop.

Its almost painful to watch those Hanner videos. We have seen some small glimpses of that version of Hanner but if he had that confidence and swagger 24/7, we could be a top team. Hope we see that on a consistent basis before he graduates.

It's weird. He's WAY more aggressive and shows way more confidence/passion in that video than we've ever seen at IU.granted it's a highlight video, but there's plays in there that are not from a "raw" player. He makes some catches in that video and some moves that we haven't seen in 2+ years at IU.

He looks 10x more aggressive and nasty way back then. I just wonder what happened to his development? Everything to his use of a jumper to put back slams I am still waiting for this Hanner to show up. Truth be told I think his development or lack of falls directly on him and his not getting to Cook Hall as much as he should. That's obviously my observation but work ethic or lack of doesn't fall on coach. Judging by this highlight tape where most of the competition is suspect, I would still blame his lack of development on him. It's not too late though. Hanner still has tons of potential, and Nebraska was a good start. We need him improving every game for this team to reach its full potential.

He tried to play like that in college and he fouled out all the time.  We may never see that type of play out of him until there's 2 minutes left in a game where he miraculously has only one foul.

Also, what happened to his free throw shooting?  He was 73% last year, now he's at 55%

When did he try to play like that and foul out? Perea has had games where he has been in foul trouble but he has never fouled out of a game here at IU. That video was all offense anyways. No disrespect but your post makes no sense. Apart from the free throw shooting. Could be he has bulked up too much and he is overpowering his free throws

I was certainly ready to write him off as a hopeless project and now I'm ready to eat my words.  He has shown great improvement and hopefully his improvement will continue.  And if it does, he can be a real beast by the end of this season and into his senior year.

If you rewind, we were discussing the pipe dream that would be a Hanner who could give us 10/10 or 12/8... 2 most impressive things this season for me, Hanner and Hartman. Hanner deserves a lot of credit for working so hard. He is now starting to catch up to his "potential". He's even had some face up drives that were impressive. He's like a praying mantis out there or something. I actually listened to the Nebraska post game interview and Crean mentioned how we are going to start seeing some times when we put Hanner on the perimeter and he is going to be called to drive....and as athletic as hanner gets when he starts a face up drive to the lane, it's probably headed towards a Thunder Chunky. Imagine the crowd that day.

All I know is - Yogi to Hanner lob.. needs to be 20% of our possessions

I want to see a little nasty streak from Hanner. We have seen it a few times this season. No reason to worry about fouls now because Holt is a very worthy back up or even neutral/better in some match ups... CUT AIR COLUMBIA LOOSE CREAN!!

I think one factor in all of this is public knowledge: alcohol. But Hanner has shown great commitment so far this year. Will be a great story if he ends up making the NBA/saving his family.

Okay he was arrested for an alcohol related issue, but his confidence and playing ability has absolutely NOTHING to do with alcohol. Come on people

It is nice to see Hanner get his own thread----and it is POSITIVE---for a change.

He deserves it as he has shown improvement.

Overall he's averaging about 8 points and 6 rebounds---but he's off to an even better start in the Big Ten.

Keep working big fella----we are proud of you! :)

YES!  I love those Yo-Pe-Lobs too!  (Yogi-Perea-Lobs)

That;s something they've been doing since AAU ball!

And it never gets old!

No - but a large number of the fan base acting holier than though and hurling negativity all over the net because "he disgraced the candy stripes" sure will.. even though a ton of Hoosier players under Knights watch drank their posterior hind parts off.

The Nebraska game he was very good. He has had maybe 3 good games. I want more consistency.

this is exactly right. He needs to b consistant because he played great at Nebraska is good but we cant have a one point 2 rebound game tomorrow night if he can b reliable to play at least decent for us that will b big
