IUBB vs. Eastern Washington Post Game Thread

I hope you are right... I got more of the impression that Yogi wanted to win.... not that Yogi wanted IU to win.... of course all the players want to win the game, they are all super competitive (at least I hope and assume those statemenets)... And I will give the credit to Yogi... he put the team on his back and tried to carry us to victory... but how did that turn out... the same way it turned out last year... he can carry us to some victories and other times we can not win on his shouders.... If he really wants to win then he needs to involve all the pieces.... He is a very good player and I wouldn't trade him for any PG in the country, just hope he realizes it is about IU and not K'Y'F.

Dude, Yogi has been great at facilitating this offense so far. He has not been out to get his. No one was getting it done last night, so as the leader, he stepped up and did what needed to be done. He unfortunately couldn't do it by himself.

Yogi showed why he's the MVP of our team. There will be a lot of games, especially the losses, where the only reason the game was even close was because of him.

27 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 turnover

That was one of his best statistical games, but the team played such awful defense that it didn't matter in the end.

Also worth noting, Stan missed four free throws, including both on a flagrant/tech (kinda missed which one it was). We lost by two.

Hanner should've been able to swat the heck out of a lot of those EWU layups... SMH over the complete lack of paint presence in this game.

With a small lineup our only hope is to value every possession as an essential commodity, stop penetration off dribble and defend the 3.  We failed at all three of those aspects of the game last night.  The effort on defense was alarming as was the effort on offense in the 2nd half outside of Yogi and Troy.  Yes Troy got blocked because he was showboating which was killer but his effort kept us in that  game.

Crean needs to get these guys to perfect those three aspects of the game or he will no longer be the coach here.  Simple as that.

Someone has to contest shots at the rim. That being said its no excuse for the poor perimeter defense of the guards. Yogi had 27 last night. JBJ followed with 10. Rojo had 7. Someone else has to score the ball.

Not trying to offend anybody... it has just been my take on it so far this year... I love Yogi, I love this team... I want them all to succeed... I want IU to succeed...

So I stated that in my opinion Yogi appears to be very nterested in getting his.... all season I believe that to be the case...

Last night he was leading us... he was doing what needed to be done to keep us in the game at the end... but I feel his mindset changed from "let's" win this... to I am going to win this for us....

Outside of that play where he got blocked Troy was pretty outstanding for IU last night.   He deserves criticism for that play but not much else.

He dunked and rebounded well.  Everything else was his normal mess.  He was bad defensively, he forced a couple terrible shots, and someone NEEDS to tell him to get the ball to the gaurds when we are breaking.  I've seen absolutely zero improvement from him this year, which is really frustrating when you look at his physical attributes.  He just doesn't understand the game, and doesn't understand how to play under control.

Watching Troy Williams on the basketball court is like watching a blind man in a race car.

I guess we're watching a different player.  He seems much improved in pretty much all aspects of his game to me

I guess the crowd noise just didn't come through on TV last night.

It's also thanksgiving break on campus.  Lots of students weren't there.  Nothing against the older fans and all, but the students are definitely the loudest and rowdiest in comparison.

I was at the Lamar game and the crowd was decent, but not electrifying.  That's just how it goes.

Seriously though, the fans at assembly hall win games for us and we need all the support we can get.

This was a terrible loss to say the least. But I'm not too concerned about our freshmen playing poorly in a game this early in the season. It could turn out to be rather constructive for them moving on. However, when our 6'9" experienced big man can only gather 1 rebound, that is just sad. In fact, with the length of his arms, he's basically a 7 footer. During his entire time at IU he has practiced against lottery picks and has yet to show any improvement.

But what's even more sad than that? The fact that Crean continues to say that he is playing well. There was one reporter in the post game that asked Crean about Perea's 14 minutes, 4 points, and 1 rebound. Crean immediately said he thought he played well. That's delusional. Someone needs to post the stats of his opponent in his locker. Get HMP angry. Toughen him up.
