Having nightmares of Brendan Plavich….

I will never forget that name as long as I live. I was a young kid and can still remember the announcers talking about him being a great off balance shooter, taking last second shots, etc. I wanted to vomit the whole time the ball was in the air.

Oh yeah, same, that name will stick with me forever. I distinctly remember us being on the bubble that year and one of the discussion points being that, well, technically IU should have one more win b/c that shot probably shouldn't have counted, but it still counts as a loss. And then were were left out. Not that we would have got a bid if that shot was waived off, it just felt like even more salt in the wound.

Was a little bummed after our game, but after watching all these other major conf teams get upset or have close games against nobodies, I’m feeling more thankful we played one good half and won.

It’s becoming more clear that due to the transfer thing or whatever, a lot of teams are finding themselves having to build a cohesive unit on the fly.

I never got too worried until around 10-15 games into the season. Especially given all the changes this past year. I think good teams look totally different in March than November/December. It's great to win and look good, but terrible to peak in January!

I feel the same. I wonder if the past seasons have seen this many P5 teams struggle in their season openers? It could be recency bias that makes me feel like this is more than usual but we know 95% of P5 schools schedule a cupcake to begin the season.

In my opinion it’s just recency bias.   Early on every year P5 teams struggle to get up for these buy games.  Usually what happens is the lower teams plays competitive for 80% of the game and then runs out of gas.  They will force OT and at that time everyone knows what’s going to happen and they lose.   P5 teams seem to get a really good whistle at the end of these games.   In my opinion unless you are a hoops junkie and watch these games these games mostly get forgotten by mid season.    Oakland took Michigan to OT last year early.  Michigan ended up being pretty decent after that.   Every high major Coach worries about that last game before Christmas break.    I’ve watched many P5 teams sleepwalk through that game and lose

I will be up with him.    6:20 will come really early tomorrow morning.

I bet my wife I could go the first couple weeks of the season without having the 4th tv in the college basketball room.   I really thought I could do it but then I saw Friday’s slate of games…….I lost.  No will power
