This has been a good game. Lot of similarities between Izzo and Underwood. I bet they hate each other.

Would imagine you’re right. I like Underwood’s schemes better. He a great schemer and Izzo’s stuff is pretty meh. But, man, Izzo is freaking Mozart as a bench coach. He almost always gets the game called the way he wants it. He’s so good at pushing his kid’s buttons. And his out of timeout stuff is almost Painter good. Dude’s still elite.

Can I interest you in Mike Woodson? Never worked the refs and gets angry every night with only Gallo.

Everyone’s favorite db@g Doug Gottlieb and his 2-17 UW-Green Bay Phoenix trying to knock off Youngstown St.

Green Bay up 63-62 with 4 to play

Gottlieb comes up a little short, Green Bay falls 73-69. Guy just can’t steal a win.

Among his flaws, Woody’s inability to get a whistle is a really underrated one. Izzo can get almost any crew to turn almost any game into a rock fight. It really is something. And B1G officiating is never gonna get fixed until that guy is gone because what he’s advocating for just infects these crews. I’m firmly convinced that when it comes to B1G style of play, Izzo is the devil.

I second this. Woody’s lack of respect from reffing crews hasn’t helped him at all.

I don't think we've had a coach who could influence officials since Knight. Davis would just laugh when his teams got hosed. Sampson wasn't here long enough for me to remember what he was like. Crean didn't have time for the refs because he was too busy clapping, chugging Diet Coke, and yelling at his  players, or some combination of the three. Miller just stood and stared. Woodson is Bigfoot to the refs now because he just sits on the bench most of the time.

I’m not sure Knight was actually particularly good at getting them a whistle, though he.was obviously really good at creating a tolerance for his behavior. That’s a freaking gift. The 2 guys that immediately leap to mind being able to influence games that way are Izzo and Dean Smith. Even K didn’t get it done like those guys.

Gene Keady is highly underrated in this area.  Paved the way for several Purdue centers with questionable talent to be effective by plowing people out of their way because “they established that’s the way they play.”

The master of that game was Wooden at UCLA in the 1973 Final Four semi-final... got the call against Downing instead of Walton.

I'm. Not. Bitter.

I think this problem  w/B1G goes deeper than Izzo.

And when they don't they fix it within 2 years instead of 4.

Yeah, as ugly as the deal here already is, the fact that the Kentucky schools clearly got their hires right pours a fair amount of salt in the wound.

Wow, if Illinois ends up beating MSU they’ll have done it by beating 8. Izzo is completely in the ref’s heads and they’re getting every close call and a fair number that aren’t that close.

The calls in MSU’s favor were a joke. Illini PG fouls out in 9 minutes of play. LOL.

The flagrant 2 against Northwestern in the at UM game was also a joke.

BT refs wear me out. So, so inconsistent.
