Adam Finkelstein with a story on one-and-dones.  He places Mgbako in the category of should plan to return.

Indiana’s Mackenzie Mgbako and Auburn’s Aden Holloway are both in similar positions. They’re starters and solid players, but neither are making a big enough splash to warrant any real NBA traction at this point.

With Mack, Liam, and guard portal-ists, we should have plenty of shooting next year.

He clearly isn't ready for the NBA but that doesn't mean much honestly. If his heart is set on being one and done he will leave. I guess we shall see soon enough.

Coaching carousel update from Trilly and to the disappointment of many Woody is not on this list.

Mike Davis is on the list no surprise.  We always hire completely awful coaches outside of Sampson.  There is no curse and it's not the fans fault people.

There isn't a single freshman in the nation that is worth being a one and done.

With Mack Liam and Galloway we’re in the same position as last year, meaning Woody might opt for a couple post players in the portal.

They darn well had better be guards who can lead, shoot and defend.

Since Dad won’t break it to you, I guess I have to:

She’s not your real Mother. Your real Mother does not ask that question.

She did last night at least she didn't ask the question of if I had choose Leal or Gallo right now that's a hard answer.

Unless he retires for some health reason, Woody is most likely back next year.  That could change if the season tailspins, but I don't see that happening.  We have enough talent to compete with anyone.  However, imo Woody's system keeps us from getting over the hump.  Focusing too much on post play to the detriment of three-point shooting makes our margin for error exceptionally slim. Fourth or fifth place in the Big Ten is possible especially if we incorporate three-point offense into our game like we did Tuesday.

Mack Mgbako is a sweet-natured kid from a great family that is financially secure and values education. If he's not wanting to ride around the country in a G-League bus he will be back. Therefore, it's likely that he'll be back.

Watching his body language on the bench and the way he was damn near the happiest kid in the locker room for Leal reminds me of why I'm glad he's a Hoosier. That, and the way he has developed during this season. Him and Malik last year have been exactly what five star freshmen (from our current roster) should be at IU; humble, developing their games, great teammates, and low ego.

McKenzie back to college? Yes.

I'm just hoping it's not at another school.

Same with Malik.

I have no inside knowledge but I'd highly consider making a significant bet that all of the following happens before Malik transfers to a different school:

1. The IU fanbase unites behind and agrees upon a coach.

2. Purdue wins a natty.

3. BIG refs call at least one out of every 5 fouls Edey commits on him.

I’ve been really big on Bako from day 1, it took him time to find his rhythm and he’s still having low percentage shooting games but the kid can shoot within actual actions and sets, hope to see more of the type of team 3-point shooting we saw against Iowa (20 +), since we’re now seeing an IU team that surprisingly is defending the arc in conf play, and has had some recent games shooting better volume effectively from outside, I’m just going to remain hopeful that’s a sign of Woodson getting to better use and defense of the arc — and Bako can thrive.
