OK "two of the top teams" means "the other two top teams," gotcha.

Kinds of working hard here to clarify for our not having done what they have, haha :)

I think it's pretty clear - there are three teams at the top of the Big 1.o. One of them has beaten the other two. I guess if you wanted to extend it to include Illinois (their Minny game was postponed) the same stat could apply. One of the top 4 teams has done something the other three have not - that is beat the other three.

I guess we could include Michigan State as "4th" (actually T5) but then we'd need to include Maryland, Iowa, Rutger, and Michigan where we get to "top teams" including 9 of 14 teams in the Big 1.o.

Hopefully not. The entire starting lineup (counting XavierJohnson instead of Trey Galloway) will be gone. IU only has two committed recruits coming in next season.  If we lose more to transfers, the team will have fewer than 10 players. IU can't count on transfers--we lost out on every single target last spring and summer.

We lost all of them due to not having any room on the roster for them

He is likely referring to Duncomb.

I could continue this with the obvious that "two of the top teams" does not mean the "other two top teams" -- but then, I wonder why people don't like lawyers....

Also this is kind of circular, no? So we're tied with NW for 2nd, and, right, we haven't beaten NW, yet. Right. The real point is they beat us, we know that, now the question is whether that was because we were playing like complete crap then, or whether they can do it again after we got our ish together.

Yeah, I agree.  I know the computers don't like them (mine has them #45) because of the non-conference schedule and results.  And I wonder sometimes if the voters follow the computers' lead for a school like Northwestern that rarely gets ranked and people don't see a lot.  But their Big 10 resume speaks for itself.

They were 26th in my WAR ratings.  I had them at 36 before their win over Purdue.

IU lost out on transfers and still used every scholarship.  It's a lot easier to bring in transfers when playing time is available.

It's a lot easier to bring in a guy if you can say that if you're a quality big, you are going to get major minutes or if you are guard who is better than Anthony Leal, you're going to play than what the situation was last offseason.

Sure, then we could throw in like 12 or 13 Big 1.o teams that have accomplished beating "two of the top teams."

Yes, if we manage to beat NW this week we could also say that we have beat the two other top teams in the Big 1.o even if us beating NW drops them down to "4th".

Northwestern might be a top 2 or 3 team in the league record wise and have wins head to head with the other top teams but their resume probably ranks 7th or 8th best in the B1G.

I could see that. Ohio State is ranked 9/14 Big 1.o teams but has the second worst Big 1.o record.

Edit: And they beat 3 "top teams" in the Big 1.o.

I am trying to enjoy this season in general (mostly, the 3-6 record from Dec 3-Jan 11th wasn't so great) and TJD in particular. He's an all-timer, only missing some meaningful wins in March from his resume.

Having said that. it's hard not to peek ahead and see a real drop-off next year. A quick scan of the stats shows that losing the opening day 5 means: 60PPG, 26 REB and 15 asst. The cupboard isn't completely bare (I can see Reneau and Banks making nice Soph jumps), and maybe JHS returns to help offset some of that. But sheesh, it's hard to imagine replacing that much production from the portal. That isn't even counting the experience and defense.

Anyway, those are off-season problems, let's finish strong!

You (and no one) is yet able to factor in the minimum of three additions that will be made to next season's roster.

Ohio st ranked 9/14 out of B1G teams What’s that mean?    Resume wise they rank 12th
