I look at Ivey and see 40/26/73 as a freshman with 11 ppg.  Carson Edwards was a 38/34/74 guy at 10 ppg.  Edwards had a huge jump as a sophomore, becoming a 46/41/82 guy scoring 18 1/2 per game.....that kind of jump is irregular and although Edwards was all-first team Big Ten, I don't think he was a legitimate contender for Big Ten POY.  I simply don't envision Ivey as a potential Big Ten POY next year.

Well you don't need to average 25ppg go be a B1G POY candidate. Garza is gone. Ayo is gone. TJD will be the favorite to win it. But that doesn't mean Ivey won't be a candidate if he makes the jump he should and showed flashes of doing.

TJD over Hunter Dickenson for favorite? If Dickenson is back I personally would put him as the favorite

I think so too. Will be interesting to see how losing everyone else in the starting lineup and brown affects him though. A lot more pressure to produce

Yes I'd put TJD as the favorite going in. Dickinson, Trevino Williams, EJ Liddell(if he returns), Jaden Ivey, Kofi Cockburn(if he returns) and Aaron Henry will be the likely top guys going into the season. Big Ten likely to be a bit down. Iowa and Wisconsin could have some rougher seasons.

I don’t expect Henry back

I know it’s just a typo but I’m tempted to refer to him as ‘Trevino’ from this point forward.

I never mentioned 25 points. But guys that are Big Ten MVP do have y to o put up big points if they aren’t going to put up big rebounding or assist numbers, which Ivey isn’t.  I don’t expect Ivey to make the leap like Edwards did and think 15 ppg is more likely.

Rothstein - Purdue's Trevion Williams has declared for the 2021 NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility, per his Instagram page.

If he goes?  Oopsies!

Edey is better than given credit for plus Kaufmann, and Furst.

It will hurt but they are positioned to weather the storm, shall he go.

They have more than enough capable bigs for sure, but Williams is likely one of the top 20 players in the nation.

That being said, it's likely he won't stay in the draft.

One of the strangest players in college basketball -- Ball State's K.J. Walton -- is in the portal.  6'3" guard will be in his seventh season;  he started his career at Missouri and played there for two years, starting 24 games and averaging 6 ppg in about 15 mpg before transferring to Ball State.  Sat out his transfer season, averaged 13 points and 4 boards as a junior;  next year he was limited to 10 games due to injury and redshirted;  came back in 2020-1 as a sixth year senior and average 16 points and 6 rebounds.  He's basically a 6'3" guard who can't play the point but can get to the rim (shot 54%  last year) and rebounds well for his size.  Has already played 125 games.  He'll basically be playing his third senior season next year;  started 2018-9 as a senior and played ten games before redshirting;  played 2019-20 as a second senior seaosn and 2020-1 will be his third.
