Oh Pooh I wanted to ask defense rocks why he brought facts into the discussion.

Akinjo is off limits in my book now. Either he’s involved or he quit on his team. Either way it’s a pass

Twitter topics.

Anyone see the tweet where IUBB had a $500 dollar carry out order from I think BJs Brewhouse with 25 specific named orders and didn’t leave a tip?

That poor basketball manager. The hostess/waitress tweeted the signed receipt but has since taken it down.

SO......

What is everyone’s idea about tipping on a carry out order? I usually tip 5 to 10 percent on a carry out order but it depends on order and place.

I’m sure some of you saw it. Dakich did.

What's the appropriate suspension for repeated allegations of sexual assault with standing court mandated restraining orders, and also returning to an assault victim's address to steal cash and weed?

Asking on behalf of Patrick Ewing.

Ask Uncle Izzo or Alford! Respect to Ewing here - big impact to his season at a time when he has a lot of pressure to prove himself. Not often enough, principle is more important than winning.

Do hosts and kitchen staff normally get a cut of the tips? Or does tip money normally get split between wait staff, bus boys, bartenders, etc?

I am a cook at a fancy resort and I still wouldn’t tip. Why? Where would the top go? To the servers who likely did nothing? I can gurantee it isn’t going to the kitchen who did all the work. Now dining in, it depends if I know what the servers make. They make $4 an hour, I’ll tip them more than someone that makes minimum wage. If they make $15 an hour, they don’t get tipped. But for carry-out, I’ll never tip because it’ll never go where it should be servers are generally greedy as hell.

I could possibly see the argument that it's poor form because they bought so much food, but I've never tipped on carryout and have never thought twice about it. You're not being waited on, you just pick up your food and leave.

Yeah, this seems to be the consensus. As I’ve aged and have a little more money, I usually throw in a small tip for carry out, if they are putting things together. Not usually for a pizza though.

It’s an interesting debate. Her tweeting was definitely a bad look.

It was a big order but isn’t that what she is paid to do? Hourly?

Even if she put the order in herself and put the food in a bag, would the real workhorses see any of the tip? I doubt the cooks would see any of the likely $100 she wanted them to tip.

Worked in athletics ops...we tipped for everything. Don’t care where it goes, but when you order 100 pizzas for a team, throwing a couple hundred dollars more to the crew seemed right. Obviously if they delivered, but even if we went to pick it up. Those types of orders are brutal to fill and area businesses usually sighed when we called because while they were about to make a bunch of money, they were also about to have a rough day.

This case was probably a manager making a huge whoopsie. We actually had that happen once and went back to the restaurant and hand delivered a tip. It happens.

Count me in the group that never tips for my own carryout food though.

If it were going to the proper place, I’d say tip. But if it’s going to people who sat around on their phones, no tip. Nothing worse as a cook than doing a massive order and not seeing a single dime while servers are bragging about how much they got(and where I work, servers make very good money hourly).

This is where I stand. If it’s just me with a small order I probably won’t tip or tip a small amount. When I’ve placed large orders or sent someone for large orders I typically throw in a tip. I worked in a restaurant in high school. Large, unplanned, orders absolutely suck for kitchen staff but we were compensated enough that it wasn’t too bad. It sucked for that one hostess that was responsible for getting everything together. It also depends on how well they put the order together.

Regardless, what’s it to the athletic department or coaches to toss in a solid tip for a massive order?

Damn Joe. You’re just not a very kind person. No tipping because “they don’t do anything”, etc. Come on man... I handled take out orders when I was a kid and a portion of all my tips went to the busers and the cooks, but sure go ahead and assume you know everything.

I clearly stated that if it’s going to the cooks for a take out order that big, I’d tip.
