I’m hoping UVA’s defense is more disciplined than Tenn’s was. I know they were trying to get up in the shooters’ faces, but I saw more than a few times when the bigs would cheat up to help on screens and Edwards, Cline or Eifert would hit Haarms streaking toward the rim for a dunk. If my casually trained eye saw it I’m sure Bennett is all over it and will make it more difficult for Purdue to do that.

Also, watch off ball how pu “sets” their screens. I watched plenty of wide stance, firearms out, shuffle feet, push into defender, let running back break through the hole screens against Tenn.

I know people don’t want to hear it but a few of these recent games have been decided on how they’ve been called.

Purdue hasn’t played a defense as well as Virginia’s. But look for a boring low scoring game. Virginia has good hands. I fully expect for them to make it hard for Edwards. Where Purdue has the advantage is how good of a creator Edwards is and their presence down low with Haarms and Williams compared to Virginia.

Personally I’d take Salt and Diakite against the Flying Dutchman and Swanigan Lite any day.

To add, I’d probably take everyone for UVA over everyone for Purdue (with the exception of Carsen probably) any day. It’s just whether Bennett lets them open things up if they need to.

I got a bracket alive in espn I think it’s chronic Hoosiers bracket challenge (1St in chronics) that as of now went 16-16 for the sweet 16 and just went 6-8 for the elite 8. Overall in the 99% and 115,000 out of 10 million

Of course you do. I think the only game you missed this season was Alcorn St/Savannah St and that was only because the stream went down. ;)

Purdue probably has the advantage in depth, but UVA's starters are very good. If UVA hits open shots, they'll win. Their offense has gotten them a ton of good looks in the tournament, but they've been really cold. They're never going to score 80, but they should have scored a lot more than they have the last 2 games. They've missed so many open shots. I think Guy is 2-20 from 3 the last 2 games, and at least 10 of those were very open. He and Hunter were terrible against Oregon.

I'm concerned Virginia will fall behind early and will be too slow to come back. Purdue starts off strong in just about every game. I don't think they've trailed by more than 3 points so far in the tournament.

Lol. Most of the time I overthink the picks because I have watched these teams multiple times all year and end up not doing as well. I think my wife has been better then I have the last couple years. She watches just not nearly the level I take it. This year was the first year I did the survival pick game and I really liked it. You definitely have to think ahead and have a plan mapped out for your picks. I had a solid plan but Tennessee failed me.

He won’t. He showed that last year when they got ran out of the gym by UMBC.

Do you put Hunter on Edwards or Cline? I think Cline would struggle with Hunter defending him leaving C. Edwards to bomb away. If he’s not hitting he’ll shoot until he’s on. I think that’s the strategy I use with a little Dook flopping on off ball screens. I don’t believe Hair and Eastern can make enough twos to beat them.

I let Jerome handle Carsen (not Clark, he’s too little and I feel like Carsen could bully him a bit) and make sure Cline doesn’t hit a single 3 by having Hunter on him. Like you said, make Nojel and Haarms beat you.

Who guards Hunter, Guy and Jerome though? Virginia isn’t going to put 100 on you, but those 3 can score. Which is why I find it odd that Bennett never lets them loose. This would be the game to let the dogs loose if you’re Bennett. Edwards would want to run and jack up shots. Let him.

Sad times when Nebraska is more serious about winning in basketball than Indiana.

These are the comments that make zero sense. They gave Miles so much time to make a successful program and saw his ceiling. Now they’re taking a shot at guy who is pretty risky in my mind.

Should have immediate recruiting success with the Bulls experience though.
