College Bball Thread

Well I did grow up believing the world revolves around me.

Back to college basketball, Monday is my first day back at work for the year (I teach) and that begins my earnest countdown to fall break which is the beginning of practice. I start to really get anxious to get the season rolling this time every year.

Fall break is also when my wife is due to give birth to our 2nd child making our first no longer an only like me. See how I tied all these topics together?

A couple of things a player selected in the top 5 rounds is not a lock in the MLB draft. There are counter examples in every sport. THAT WAS WHAT WE WERE SAYING. He said EVERY ATHLETE that can make a million dollars will leave. So WE are piling on because we showed not EVERY athlete that can make a million in various sports goes pro. WTF did I miss? I personally don't care one way or another about the one and done rule. It's the asinine blanket statements in every thread about Kentucky, the NBA, or the one and done rule. If you come to a board any board and throw those out consistently they will get picked apart. It has been that way for around the 15 years I have been on various boards.

I never said that someone selected in the top 5 rounds of the MLB draft was a lock to make the MLB. I said they will "generally skip college and go to the MLB." Which is the truth.

It just seems like a lot of nitpicking to me. Some deserved, some not deserved.

It is nitpicking when it's a one off post. It really isn't when that is all you bring to boards. It's a short leash on a last warning so I am fine either way. There have been repeated requests to stop what it is he does. He hasn't changed. It will soon be over.

As for you post KB0 I agree with you. You are discussing a gray area, and not black and white. That was 100% our point this issue and previous ones. Because all putting out blanket statements does is starts fights. We have explained this and booted him from this site in the past. He kept trying to circumvent the process, then rinse and repeat. Next time we will play with IPs. We tried being nice by letting him come back this time from his ban(s). He had 3 strikes. He has 1 left.

Well played keet, and congrats man!!

I'm stoked about the season as well. I think we have some good tests in the noncon that will have the CBB media buzzing which will help with recruiting. There are some other games that should be good in the noncon too.

Unfortunately/fortunately, I might be here for Hoosier Hysteria for the first time in years!

Is it just me or does anyone else wonder how all of the kids today whom continuously claim that they are in need of stipends, sport thousands of dollars in ink? Tattoo work nowadays runs about 50-100 bucks an hour. Was wondering that this past year after attending a lot of local H.S. games and taking in all of the artwork.

Hmm gives me an idea lets put a tattoo artist on staff. Kids can have all the work they want for free in the offseason.

Would love to see that living room conversation.

"Mam when we get done with Romeo he's gonna look like he just did 5 to 10. I guarantee it"

A lot of times the problem with people and money isn't that someone doesn't have enough money (though that certainly is a problem with lots of people), it is that they don't prioritize needs and wants and calculate how far their money can go. Speaking as a college grad that ate garbage but went to nick's and KOK 4-5 times a week.

Ugh..

Bruce Pearl, Auburn now have the No. 8, 35 & 45 players in the country. Recruiting class ranks No. 1 in 2017. Big time class.

Bruce Pearl and Auburn. All I can think of is envelopes of cash when those two names are put together.

I am interested in watching Stan Robinson at Rhode Island. Jeremy Hollowell in his last year at Georgia State. Hanner and Peter in their last year at East Tennessee State. Max Hoetzel in his first season with San Diego State. Emmitt Holt in his first season with Providence. Devin Davis at Houston. Some games to watch there.

Interested in all of them.

Especially rooting for Emmitt and PJ.
