If UNC moves on from Davis, they better already have a deal in place before cutting him loose.  Looking at the top 15 in kenpom, there are only a handful of coaches that would be considered high profile enough and would possibly leave their current situations for the high expectations of UNC.  I will make this statement.  Brad Stevens will never be welcome in Indiana again if he would take the UNC job.

This will be a very interesting coach search.  UNC is probably the best job in CBB or #2 at worst.

Can they snag a top P5 coach?  Should be a lot of drama…

Agreed.  Only real negative about the job is you're right next to Duke and are expected to keep pace with them.  Beat them at least half the time.  Could be difficult.  Pitino is probably a top 5 coach in college basketball history and he seemed to have trouble keeping pace with Cal at UK despite having top 10 resources.  Probably why he brought in the hookers.

A fortune run with the team Roy left for him. To your point, I think UNC understands that it’s been mostly downhill from there.

The Caleb Wilson injury obviously crushed their season.
UNC is saying—we’re investing top 5 money into this program and we need see results commensurate to that. Like consistently making second weekends.

A few more missed tourneys and we’ll be doing the same

Providence has agreed to a 5-year deal with South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson, source told @thefieldof68. Hodgson, 38, won both the American regular-season and tournament title in his lone season with the Bulls. He won 45 games in two years at Arkansas State. Hodgson is a New York native who was an assistant for Nate Oats at both Buffalo and Alabama.

Good coach.

This is devastating news for Syracuse fans. Their world view is basically shattered after being clearly rebuffed for Providence of all places.

Good hire for them. Syracuse NIL infrastructure must be bootycheeks.

Maybe Hodgson turned down Syracuse because they canned their coach after only 3 years?! Just don’t check how long English was at Providence…

Syracuse is working to finalize a deal to hire Siena coach Gerry McNamara as the school’s next head coach, per me and @jeffborzello. McNamara won a national championship as a player at Syracuse and led Siena to the NCAA Tournament this year.

These schools never learn. If his name was Harry McNamara and he’d played at UVA and had the exact same resume they wouldn’t have wasted a single breath on him. But, hey, 3rd in the MAAC, you just can’t pass on an alum with that level of accomplishment.

“Hubert didn’t really want this head coaching job.”  Just stop it.

The 1 thing I’m sure he is right about is that they definitely want a commitment from their guy before they pull the trigger. If they want to keep a kid like Mingo they better be able to just point at the next guy.
