Crean has to go. This program is under his watch. It is a total mess, with one player seriously injured in the hospital and now this.

I have always considered myself a Crean fan, therefore it saddens me to say this, but I say we let Buckley or Shooter be the interim this year and Fred needs to start lining up money for the new hire and making back channel contact to our top choices.  

 

I typed this out once and deleted it because I didn't want to post emotionally, but I really think this is what is best as of now.  

 

I take no joy in typing this.  Like I said, I really like CTC and want him to be successful here, but at this point I think the spiral moving too fast. 

 

This makes me so sad and sick.  Get better DD.

The players are at fault. Crean is at fault for continuing to let this shit happen. There is no accountability, starting with the Perea incident. Ultimately no matter what happens it falls on the coaching staff. It's time.

To be fair, I don't think that Crean is a bad guy. He's not Sampson. But he has no control on the situation, these are his guys, and his seat was already warm without the character issues. But this is unaccepatble.

I've been pretty strong that I felt Crean deserved this season to prove himself as the coach of the program. These last 3/4 days have been a freaking nightmare as a fan of IU basketball. At some point enough of this has to fall back to Crean...... I don't see how he can survive this

He can't babysit them, but ultimately it is on him.  Coaching is a buck-stops-here profession, ultimately everything that happens to the program is on his shoulders.

 

There is no leadership or accountability in this program, none at all.  A player needs to step up and be a leader but it's not happening.  Maybe if he'd punished Perea harder for a DUI the players would think twice, but that's irrelevant now (I thought at the time Perea got off light, 2 games smh).

 

EDIT:  Besides he's getting a top 10 paycheck to handle this falling on him.
