UNC: Wainstein Report

Recommended Posts

To put all of this in perspective, the easiest class I had at IU was bowling. Even in that bowling class we had:

2 Quizzes

2 Tests - Midterm and Final

1 Paper

That was for a one credit class that involved....bowling

lol i took that class myself! was it at the Union bowling alley?

Not to stir the pot, but I went to grad school at unc. I saw Sean May while in Bloomington then saw him at unc for his freshman year. I knew something was up when he was riding a truck that cost more than my house. I just didn't know t it was that serious.

a huge reason May went to UNC was because Mike Davis totally botched his recruitment. IIRC David missed out on a dinner with the May family. Another rando tidbit, AJ Moye told me he wasn't the biggest fan of playing for Davis as well :P

So both Sean May and McCants took these classes. At least one banner needs to be stripped.

Nooooo they beat Illinois. Let them keep that one.

Illinois wouldn't be awarded the title Otherwise I would agree with you.lol

Haha not even that. I'd just have to hear about how UNC won that title by "cheating" even though that couldn't be farther from the truth. Logic isn't an Illinois fan's strong suit.

Davis didn't botch the recruitment, May and his family had NO desire at all for him to play for Davis no matter what happened. He listened to Davis' pitch just to be nice. People mention Crean missing out on top Indiana talent but Davis by far swung and missed on top Indiana talent during his time here. Oden was all ours but Davis didn't want to bring aboard Conley. Also another one I remember is Dominic James. Fantastic Indiana HS basketball player (should've won Mr. Basketball his senior year) . Davis said James was "too short" to play college ball. He went on to be an all american for Crean at marquette. Eric Gordon didn't want to play for Davis. Pretty crazy

I can't blame them for not wanting to play for Davis.  I wouldn't want to play for him even if it was just a pick up game at a local rec center.

60% of athletes at UNC were reading between a 4th and 8th grade level. Of that, 8% were reading at a 3rd grade level or were illiterate. Think about that.

I must go to UNC because this doesn't add up for me. 68% of athletes read at 8th grade or below or 60% read at 8th grade or below (52% at or between 8th and 4th grade, 8% below 4th grade)?

Dickie Vitale will come to the defense of Ol' Roy!

Roy Williams' denial of knowledge reminds me of the scene in Independence Day when the President wants to know why he didn't know about the captured alien and the response was "plausible deniability".  If he didn't know it's because he didn't want to know.  The head coach and AD are paid to supervise the programs and the buck stops with them.  All of the top administrators who are still on the UNC payroll who were there while this was going on should be terminated and the university trustees shouldn't lose a minute of sleep over that decision.  As for the NCAA, if it doesn't bring down the Hammer of Thor on UNC then it's as impotent as we already believe it is.  It's hard to imagine a scenario more deserving of the infamous 'death penalty' than what's gone on for nearly 2 decades at UNC.

I can't speak for the first week on campus, however I parked next to him for a year and he had the same green 4 dr 1995-1998 Ford Explorer with Texas plates that said "The Colony" on the license plate bracket, every single day...

I'd call that rumor complete BS, but like I said, I won't speak for that first week on campus. Perhaps you had him confused with Ken Nunn...

Ken was in a Red Corvette when I was at IU, but he's cruising in a Rolls Royce convertible these days
