Hovadipo Posted January 5, 2024 Author Posted January 5, 2024 Watching Spurs Bucks and they did one of those coach mic’d up segments coming back from commercial. Pop is straight up coaching his guys like a HS team. Telling Wemby things like “if you’re going to catch and shoot, just catch and shoot. Don’t mess around” Got a kick out of that. Makes sense considering his roster is probably younger on average than a few college teams this year. Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Two things blowing me away lately in the League - Haliburton is amazing. I haven’t seen a guard assist like he does since I Thomas. Effortless, 20 assists and 0 TO’s? While carving up the D and scoring with a smile? This dude just may be starting a HOF level legacy, so nice to see him in a P’s uniform building them back. - Wemby is that generational player, the guy who can dominate anyone, the kid is only 20, that’s just nuts. Name the 20 year olds with his skill, control, ability to go at guys like Greek Freak and put on a show in their rookie year. He moves and handles the ball like a skilled guard, has a sweet shot, athleticism is legit, can dunk on and block anyone and on the run. Think of this kid at 24-25. Really hope he stays healthy, what a phenomenal player. (And that P’s-Bucks battle between him and G was special.) Yeah, if I’m Pop I keep delaying retirement— what a blast he’s having coaching this kid thebigweave 1 Quote

Worried about making a bunch of moves when the simplest play is the best play. LaMarcys Aldridge talked about how Wemby needs to find a move and be great at that one move. Rather than having several and constantly thinking about what to do. Makes sense coming from a guy who made a living and killing off that mid range jumper. Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Missed it watching football, but Tyrese went down and was carried off the floor. Not ideal. Seems like a bad Hamstring tear/sprain to me. Depending on severity it can go from week to season ending. Hope it looked worse than it was. Hovadipo Posted January 17, 2024 Author Posted January 17, 2024 Shams reporting the Pacers are working on a deal for Siakam including 3 1st rounders. I see the fit, but…are we maxing him? If we aren’t maxing him, are we giving up 3 1sts for a 30ish game rental? Mega ew. pappy1865 and lillurk 2 Quote

Plus not like Siakim is gonna age out quickly. And his fit with Ty offensively is as close to perfect as you can get lillurk, thebigweave and craigyv88 3 Quote

I just don’t think these first round picks are all that valuable to us right now. We already have good young role players. We need a star and the odds of getting a star in the mid to late first are just not there. Siakam has his flaws, but he would help us for sure. And the Pacers have the shooting to spread the floor for him. There just isn’t going to be a better player available for us. J34, thebigweave and lillurk 3 Quote

Definitely agree about the picks, we're past relying on the draft for big-minutes talent. Maxing him just gives me a bit of pause. Nothing more than a gut feeling. lillurk 1 Quote

Siakims isn't anywhere near worth a max. 15-20 maybe but he isn't that kind of guy. Giving him a max is saying he's equal to some of the absolute in the league, and he's not close to there. Quote
