Ok, I don’t know if this is actually accurate but I just heard Legler say it and I trust that guy so I’m going with it:

In this year’s playoffs, shots taken with under :15 left in the game to tie or take the lead:

Every other player in the playoffs 4-27

Haliburton 5-5

To steal from the 2 guys in Tombstone:

”You ever seen anything like that?”

”Hell, I’ve never even heard of anything like that.”

Un-freaking-believable.

Heard that a few places now. I thought I heard it as 4 of 24. But yeah it’s insane

When some Nate Silver, stats to the exclusion of all else, type  tries to say that there’s no such thing as clutch, they really need to shut the hell up.

Yeah that’s just ridiculous that transcends sports.

Clutch is the ability to not panic when the pressure is on. I think that’s one reason Carlisle doesn’t call timeouts. Doesn’t want the other team to have time to prepare. Mentally or tactically. Hali doesn’t need time to do that.

Nate Silver annoys me like no other.

The extra off day is pi$$ing me off. There should be a game tonight.

It's 2 days between each game, except for Games 3 and 4. Might as well get used to it.

It’s fitting- Reggie was Mr Clutch now it’s Hali

This is the first night in a long time where it’s sinking in that the pre-football dead zone is rapidly approaching. Absolutely nothing on. I’m soaking up every minute of hockey and basketball I can for the next couple weeks.

Have tried to get into hockey for 10+ years and it just hasn’t come. Our niece and her husband have ridiculously good Blues season tix that I can have whenever I want and I’ve never taken them up on it. Too many basketball games to watch. Now, if they’d just move the NHL season to summer we might be on to something. And, yeah, the summer has racing and nothing else. And when you get excited that Formula E is running this weekend you’ve officially run out of stuff.

Interesting point about moving the schedule. Honestly the NBA could think about that with decreased viewership.

That and honestly in conjunction with their desire to end super teams I think they need a massive expansion. Tons of big markets lack a team.

Id add an expansion team to each division.  To keep balance.

Division opponents - 4 games each 20 total

Other conference - 2 games each 56 Total

Same conference - 2 games each 80 Total

And you play the other teams from your conference you placed the same place in their divisions to round it out to 82.

And if you give the expansion teams the first 6 picks for a few years you might stop tanking.

You have to take them up on it next season. I had always enjoyed hockey as an outsider but never really cared (like you said, the overlap with football and basketball)…then I saw an NHL game down on the glass and it completely shattered my sports worldview. I spent the first period cackling like an idiot and I’ve been a full-on fan for about 10 years now. Hands down the nuttiest sport to see the pros play at eye level.

Also, Enterprise is just an excellent place to see a game.

This is a little weird: Apparently, the NBA is giving the Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award tonight to Don Nelson. Never heard of it but that’s certainly a good call because Nelson was a pretty good player and hell of a coach. Apparently, it’s being presented an hour before tipoff. So, they drug an 85yo man from Hawaii to OKC to give him an award in an arena that will probably be less than half full? Isn’t that a halftime sort of thing?

Hali needs to step it up in Game 3, he has to be more aggressive earlier in the game. Agree with this from Pelton:

In particular, Carlisle would be wise to extend the minutes for Haliburton and Myles Turner. The Pacers played almost even with both players on the court and were outscored by double digits in the minutes they rested.

Saw a comment that the P's are +7 in the series against the Thunder so far with Hali on the floor -- and that's despite that he's not scoring well until the 4th Q in both games. He has to take more shots and earlier, and Carlisle should play him more and shorten the Bench -- Games 3 and 4 are both huge for the P's.

The different whistles for different jerseys followed us to Indy. The NBA has decided this series.

You know it's bad when the announcers are questioning it.

Aside from that, Pacers are swimming upstream. I'd be surprised if they won this game and a lot more surprised if they won the series.

“How does a guy that’s 6’2” 190 pounds makes his way into the NBA?” is a direct quote from Doris Burke about TJ McConnell. Say what you mean, Doris.
