Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft

Recommended Posts

20-25 ppg next year are you serious? When's the last player at IU to even come close to those numbers? Eric Gordon was a lottery player. Crean does have another lottery post player and he only averages 11 ppg and only 5-6 shots. Fisher would have been lucky to average in double figures if he would have stayed next year. His loss definately hurts but in no way is he even close to Noah or Zeller.

I assumed he meant minutes, not points.

Sorry, I meant minutes per game.  I truly did not mean that.

He said he thinks he could be.  Let's face it, we won't know until he actually plays.  Part of the reason he wavered on UK is because he wasn't sure he could be one and done.

i understand completely, but we love our Hoosiers. There has to be a little support, not 100% negativity. I get complaining sometimes, but can we support Crean a little bit at all? Luke transferring screwed his plan B.

Not when you don't support him.  I love IU, graduated from IU and I want better for IU than Crean!

What a damn shame that a kid would rather play in the D league than for the Hoosiers.

That said, not sure its the wrong choice for Noah.

That isn't guaranteed he would play in the D League. That is all based on what they have seen on Vonleh mostly at the college level and a little bit at the high school level. Once coaches get a hold of guys they usually find some way to incorporate them into a rotation, Reggie Evans played 25 minutes a game last year on a playoff team when his entire skill set amounts to he can rebound the ball. Also the D League comment came out of one GM's mouth.

He's pretty much lost my faith, too many glaring problems.  As I've said before, to get any of my faith back he has to contend for the B1G this year and go to the Elite 8 at minimum.

No problem and I could have seen him get that many minutes or more next year. He would have really helped us and was playing his best ball when he left.

I think that's a far goal, but I don't nor many of our posters really think he will make it. If you don't, then I guess just giving him another year lowers the buyout. In the meantime we delay the transitioning a new coach and ultimately the success we all want. The real bonus of delaying the inevitable is my hope that our administration pinpoints the right replacement and has plenty of time to have a proper courtship. I don't think we find our best new coach during the tournament as many other schools and coaches are actively pursuing the same. Then you get into a Texas football situation although I think charlie Strong will do well there.

As bad as I hated to think about what we would be without Noah next year, that late foot injury allowed us a glimpse. I am not suggesting we were a better team, but the sky didn't fall and it allowed Davis to come alive. Look ,we did a terrible job of feeding the post as it is. I don't think that our post feeds are going to get better as we add a black-hole shooter looking to go pro. Go make some money Noah...just don't blame us when things don't go as planned.

I am pretty sure Cody would have come back if Victor and more of last years team was coming back. Cody made the correct decision for the place he was at and whee the program was. Vonleh is leaving on a down note. I would expect his draft status drop as other players rise to the top in the NCAA.

If I was with an NBA team, I don't think he proved enough this year for me to draft him in the lottery. There are a lot of players I would take before him. I am not sure he is in the top 6 freshman. Then you have to consider players like Gary Harris, McDermott, and Dante Exxum.

The thing with Noah is a lot like a minor league baseball player.  Tons of potential.  Could find a way for 10 min as a Rookie, but won't hit his potential unless he is playing minutes.  That is how I took the likelihood of the NBDL.

I said that's for him to get my faith back, I've pretty much lost any and all hope of Crean winning anything here.  Too many issues and no improvement.  I expect next year to be an early exit, if the team is good enough to make the tournament at all.

I think some people are down playing how much losing Noah will hurt us.  This offense is poor at utilizing bigs, but it still needs a big that can keep the defense honest.  If it didn't need really need a big then Cody wouldn't have made such a big difference, and that 3rd year was an even bigger underachievement.

I couldn't agree more. If I am a GM give me a proven commodity. Vonleh has great talent but he would be mid to late round pick for me.
