Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft

Recommended Posts

Well, 2014 was weak for skilled bigs.  Think, Trey Lyles was committed to IU.  If he was coming here next year, would people still be worried?  Probably not.  There weren't many instant impact bigs out of 2014.  So Crean banked on getting one instant impact in 2013 and one potentially very good 4 year player.  I think we can agree Luke would have started next year and been a key contributor next year.  Problem is Luke was the only well rounded big we had recruited for 2012, 2013, and 2014.  When he transfers, Crean's seat was bound to get hot.

Stop being a Crean apologist.  He should have known when he recruited Luke that he would transfer midway through his freshman year.
Watching all these conference tournaments this past week I've seen many teams in smaller conferences with big men that are actually pretty good, and I would say probably weren't highly rated out of high school, hence the reason they're at these smaller schools. Crean could get other big men, he just isn't good at it...and the fact that Cody and Noah never really developed under Crean is going to hurt, too.
And I'm guessing they have to see this offense and are thinking to themselves damn I'm not even going to get the ball.

Fischer was the 76th RSCI recruit. That is non-impact level until a junior, at least. Fischer leaving is hardly an excuse or the reason for our anticipated problems next season.

Excuses beginning early.

I think it is on Crean to not have more than 2 skilled bigs.  I do think Fischer's ranking is misleading.  He was well rounded with a high IQ.  He was also partially lower ranked due to playing HS in Wisconsin.  Nobody to play against.  We will miss his skill and IQ next year.

He was skinny, lost in Crean's offense and needed a couple of years to grow if he was ever going to make a difference. Just my opinion.

If true I wish nothing but success for Noah, we all wish for the pay day he will receive at the age when most of us graduated HS. At the same time, to me it does not matter who the coach is, who the recruits are, who transfers to and from this program. I will always be behind the team team that is on the floor. I am & always will be a Hoosier no matter what! I think and BELIEVE we can & will win every game we play, but that is not always the outcome.

This is and always will be my team and my loyalty stands firm.

I think he was really coming into his own like Stan at the same time Stan was.  I think he would have been that 6 point per game player this year and got 20-25 next year.  Some of our players are athletes.  That kid was a ballplayer.  Pretty sure he was over 235 which for a Freshman would be pretty good.

You saw things far differently than me. But I won't argue it. Kind of a moot issue now.

He'll get eaten alive next year, but I can't blame him for leaving if he in fact does. It'll take a couple years to develop regardless of where he is, so he might as well get paid doing it. Plus with his foot issues, take the money before health becomes a big problem.

Looking at Marquette's lineup, I think he will get those same minutes starting in January of next year.  Curious to see for us if we go the JUCO route.  I would think that is our only option at this point.

I think this summer will be interesting if there's a mass defection. Just a thought.

I'll sum up the recruiting this summer.

Can the big walk and chew gum at the same time?  Maybe, if we're lucky?  Eh, good enough.  Oooohhhhh, that wing can jump!  /trips while trying to run and pull up pants at the same time

I think some of the recruiting experts didn't see him much either so didn't have much to base his ranking on.  I had high hopes for him.

Only if we have a big amount of guys leave though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I don't think it will change anything. I think Crean will decide his own fate next season. Top 4 Big Ten finish, 20+ wins and Sweet 16 need to be reached IMO

I'd agree with that. If we have a bunch of guys leave, I think that boosters and maybe even people in the administration will start taking a longer look at the program, though.
