He’s played in 10 games last appearing in the Purdue and Illinois blowouts. Can he even redshirt?

No. Unlike football if you play a second in a game then that burns the redshirt for the year.   Football if you play 4 or fewer games I believe then you can still redshirt

Sisley may come back due to local ties but you don’t see guys like him get relegated to the bench and stay in a program anymore. Dorn is more likely here next year but who knows. Can’t count on them in the nil era.

Jaxon Kohler who lit us up last night was a similar top 100 recruit coming out of high school. Limited minutes his first two seasons at MSU. Blossomed into a starter and key contributor as an upperclassman.

I think Dorn could be a highly effective 3 and D guy with the right personnel around him. Pair him with 2 elite guards and a big that is a threat to score and the floor is spaced that much more. I have no qualms with him being the 3rd guard next year under those conditions. But those conditions need to be met for him to play a large role, otherwise he's fine being that 7th/8th man off the bench. I think Sisley has all the physical tools to be good in this league, he just needs confidence. Way too early to give up on him.

Dorn provides a lot more 3 than D unfortunately. It's not all on him, but our defensive efficiency has absolutely cratered as Dorn's role has expanded.

I actually felt more comfort with Miles in versus Dorn.  Miles was more active on D and somewhat on the boards.  But everyone sucks on the boards.

Totally agree. Miles is a ball magnet. If he isn’t getting rebounds, he’s either getting tips or making things hard for the other team. He‘s carved out a clear role for himself, whereas Dorn is a chucker that can’t be bothered to work on the other end.

But Miles offers absolutely nothing on the offensive end.  I see absolutely no reason why Miles gets minutes and Sisley isn't.

I mean, that’s fine. But my point stands when the conversation is between Miles and Dorn, which it was.

Doesn't provide a lot of "3" either... he's shooting 17.9% from 3 the last 7 games.... 7-39... unplayable.

He's 38% for the year on good volume. There's a role for that on every team.

Yea Miles is an excellent rebounder for a wing. Even going back to his time at North Florida. It's probably his best skill.

Even so, I see him as a 9th/10th man type given his other limitations. If he's accepting of that role, sure bring him back.

You’re higher on Dorn than me. If it’s not a corner 3 he isn’t making it and he can’t play D at this level. Maybe a healthy offseason to work on explosiveness and overall athleticism can help. But he is a bench player on a good team at this level, as his ceiling. Good for a game or 2 where he blows up off the bench.

I wouldn’t give up on Sisley either. Freshman coming in, rated lower than all 3 of the ones next year, and he gave solid effort. I believe he hit a wall and will improve bc of it. He is athletic enough and he brings some size. He looks all of 6’8-9” to me when he is out there. That’s good height for a PF in college.

Seems to me Sisley can be the back up 4 and Dorn and Miles can play off the bench as back up 2 or 3, whichever matches up better. Miles a defensive specialist, Dorn a spot up shooter.

Maybe Prince can play back up guard minutes and be a 3rd ball handler?

So IMO we need at least a C, a PG, a CG, a big guy who can slide over to the 5, and ideally a 3 & D guy.

Our seniors are probably making somewhere in the range of $6-7M.

Since we have a lot of guys who can play the 3 (including Karvala and Manhertz, likely to redshirt but anything is possible) I don't think we spend a ton on that spot. Probably not on the starting PF who plays back up 5 mins either. Splurge on the starting backcourt and C.

Our seniors are making more than that imo. 2.5-3 for Tucker, 2.5 for Wilkerson, 1.5 Bailey. That’s 6.5 before we count Enright and Conorway. Probably closer to 8 mil.  Plus the rumored extra 2.5 for the portal this year and we should have 10 mil + in NIL money add to the roster. Go get 5 players at 2.5 mil each and let’s roll.

Yea, I'm using conservative estimates... 2M to TD and Lamar, 1.5M for Bailey, Conerway 750k. Thats 6.25M. So adding Enright and Alexis, could be 7M-ish IMO. All guesstimates of course. Either way, more than enough to get some studs. Just gotta identify and land em. Last year we reportedly stuck to our guns when it came time to put in best and final offers. Hopefully Carr helps with prioritization.

You have to pay the other 8 players. Even at low to mid 6 figures for your rotation guys you’re at another couple mil and you know the frosh were promised something decent.

Need to do it like the nba and splurge or 2 or 3 guys but you can’t miss. Missing on Tucker and Bailey this year put us behind the 8 ball.

It’s still staggering that Bailey got a a million plus. Further proves that he was brought in to be a high major contributor. Again, it goes without saying that whoever evaluated him (I think Adams) needs to never evaluate for us again. I truly believe we were 1 good big man away from having a borderline top 25 team. Incredible miss.

Yea but so was Tucker and that’s on dad. Can’t miss twice like that.

Im just using these names for no other reason than their familiar but for example think of if instead of Tucker our big name splash land was Lendeborg and our center was somebody serviceable like Reneau instead of Bailey. Even with Enright and Dorn starting and a weak bench we’re probably something like a 6-8 seed.

Lots of pressure this year because going 1 for 3 in big name signings puts us on the brink of missing the tourney again.
