Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Moving right along, another game streamed on Big Bird especially for you night owls. The Condoms (16-6) (5-6) average 82 ppg with a +6 margin shooting 47% FG and 32% on 3s. They average 38 rpg with a +4 margin so not a dominating team on the boards. They have 4 averaging 10 ppg or better led by Rodney Rice (who is out for the year) at 20.3 and Chad Baker-Mazarra at 18.8. Baker-Mazarra is by far their best 3 shooter at 37%. They have 2 other players shooting 39% but on minimal attempts. Jacob Cofie at 7.4 and Ezra Ausra at 6.0 are their leading rebounders. Ausra is particularly effective on the offensive glass. As a team their assist/turnover ratio is 1.2 and they only generate 14 ppg off turnovers. Don't want to get too giddy after the last 2 wins in particular, but this is a winnable road game. radio Live Stats Dave from Dayton and mamasa 2 Quote
MonteMarcaccini Posted February 1 Posted February 1 One note - Rice is out for the year. Still an athletic team as typical Muss teams are. Can be streaky from what I’ve seen. Dave from Dayton, mamasa and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 1 Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Can't believe on a work night this is a 10:00 game but then it is 7:00 on the west coast. Stuhoo, Whoozhers and mamasa 3 Quote

Whoozhers Posted February 1 Posted February 1 If Sisley starts playing to his potential/pedigree the upside for the team will be tremendous. That’s all I’m gunna say bout that. Except: GO HOOSIERS!! Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The USC game is going to be interesting. USC has won some close games. They are 6-1 in one-possession games. but struggle with turnovers. Both IU and USC have shown some grit in playing well most of the games lately. USC will score in streaks. Will IU stop that and keep trying? Same goes for the opponent. Will Coach DV call a timeout and send in a play? Will IU throw a full court press at USC at a critical point? Will IU's bench step up? USC just beat Rutger by 3 at home. Weird game. USC scored in streaks. They led by as mjuch as 19 points. In the last 3 minutes Rutger threw a full-court press at USC. In the 2nd half SC had 12 TO’s leading to 18 R pts, allowed 12 off rebs for 14 2nd chance pts and had extreme difficulty handling full court pressure. USC almost lost the game. USC shot 51% FG (26-51), 33.3% 3FG (4-12), 73.3% FT (22-30). Chad Baker-Mazara has made 5 double-doubles in a row. USC had only 5200 in attendance. They just doubled the cost of season tickets to both bball and fball. They like to think that they are a football school. We should show them our Natty Trophy before the game. There are a few fans...but they are somewhat disheartened by seeing Jordan Marsh wearing a black boot. What to make of all of this? IU better play defense. Bailey better get some blocks and rebounds. But IU is playing lots better lately. I need to find out a little more about USC's PG and other matchups before I make a prediction. I will catch a few winks before the game...or I will miss it. 10 PM start...glad I'm retired. IU win...I hope. Quote
ronzo4IU Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I was wondering if we stay on the West Coast thru both games or fly back and forth? I thought I heard that teams, now that the Big has expanded will usually stay in the region if they have 2 games 3 days apart that are near by. If the boys are staying in Calli, where do they practice etc..? Do teams like USC let them come and share gym time and visa-versa? Maybe teams have to rent private gyms? I've always been curious about the details and my son was asking the other day and I honestly don't know? Quote

I am pretty sure the home team has to give them time for practice and shoot around. Team may do walkthroughs at their hotel if there's a big enough space like a ballroom. ronzo4IU 1 Quote

I know for a fact that I would rather stay in Southern California for a few days as opposed to coming back to snow and 20° temps for a day and head back out. I know I wouldn't leave until I had to seeing it is in the 70s out there. LOL ronzo4IU and str8baller 2 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted February 2 Posted February 2 In my previous post, I mentioned that I need to know more about the current USC point guard situation. Seems that two PGs are out, and Kam Woods was added as a mid-season transfer. The following is from AI and is unverified. Kam Woods joined the team on Dec. 18 as a mid-season transfer … scored his first points as a Trojan against Michigan (Jan. 2) 2024-25: Spent one year at Robert Morris, where he and current USC Trojan Amarion Dickerson helped the Colonels make their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance … Was a All-Horizon League Second Team selection and the Barbasol Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship MVP … Was a Riley Wallace Player of the Year Award Finalist, an award given annually to the most impactful transfer in Division I basketball … Led the Colonels with 14.9 points and averaged 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists … Had eight games with 20 or more points and four double-doubles Quote

Definitely, I know they were wanting to schedule teams who go out west to have 2 games while out there to minimize the travel. They have been grouping UCLA and USC on a trip with Oregon and Washington as the other group. I think they do the same thing with the teams out west going to the Midwest. They group them with 2 games to reduce the amount of travel. ronzo4IU 1 Quote

That's why they schedule the games on the west coast (and east cost if you're west coast team) in groups -- so they can stay several days and eliminate the travel back and fourth. Really beneficial for LA as two teams are a short drive from each other. Quote
